No it dosnt, but these are the types of incidents that he'll be remembered most for by opposition supporters, whether you, or your supporters like it or not. The Incident on Edwards only will only entrench my view

See, I'll just remember him for being an all Australian, premiership winning, life member of my club.

And I guess that's what he plays for, not the media contracts, the notoriety or the money, so I doubt he cares what you or anyone thinks to be honest.

Where are they on the ladder?Dont forget the psychology of fear.Once opposition players fear a team half the battle is won. What was appalling was our players not doing a damn thing to support Edwards or protect him.

Maybe the reason no-one supported Edwards was because it was a legitimate tackle. Fair enough if he tried to elbow Edwards in the head, a la McGuane on SJ in the last quarter, but I don't hear you guys going off about that.

are you guys trying to justify the tackle and the resultant free kick and goal to geelong.....if that is the case the game is in a shit state

And the game will be in a shitter state if Milburn even gets cited for what happens in a tackle. Edwards was just unlucky he was tackled like he was at Telstra Dome, which is the hardest ground in the comp.

Because they were hot on holding the ball when we were tackled but put the whistle away when it was us doing the tackling.

Disgraceful effort from the blokes in the middle tonight. Especially that number 22. Goes alright for the cats, that number 22

The same number 22 who paid 13-3 free kicks AGAINST us in the first half of the Freo game when the Dockers were playing the man, yet we were the team getting pinged? Yeah, goes alright for us...NOT!

Ask any Geelong player what they say to Milburn when he asks them if they want to be picked up for training

Cryptic I know but understandable if you know what happened over ten years ago now

Yep, totally cryptic man. Wow, what an insight. Almost Jimmy Buckley-esque.

And for the record, if you did ask a player, they'd tell you he drives 2-3 of them from Torquay each day.

Milburn is a dog you can take that for granted. What angered me was that no RFC player even remonstrated with him. Believe me if Simmo or any other big bloke had walked up to him face-to-face and belted him I would be a happier man today. Even if it meant 6 weeks on the side-line.

Unfortunately Milburn always seems to act the tough guy on often goes over and above the call of duty. From the last two games against Richmond i have noticed he is often picking on the young skinny teenager roughing up Cotchin in his first game and Edwards last night. I would love to see him tackle Jonathan Brown like that and see what he may get in return!

Milburn is a great player and really doesn't need to resort to these tactics. He's like the bully in the schoolground. Again they need to stamp out this "continuation" of the tackle as it is highly dangerous. It not tough, it is done with the sole intention of taking out your opposition, which unfortunately happened last night as Edwards wasn't as effective after that. If those are legitimate tactics then that is crap!!

So you're dirty on Milburn hurting a guy in a tackle, which is part and parcel of the game, yet are willing to condone it if someone came up and belted him, which is part of the game that they've been trying to stamp out?

Talk about double standards.

Are you serious? I assume you're talking about the incident in which McGuane went to tackle a fully upright Stevie Johnson, who then chose to stick his head down and charge at McGuane? Mmm McGuane should definitely be in strife for that, under rule 3.1: 'do not allow yourself to be headbutted by another player'.

And the game will be in a shitter state if Milburn even gets cited for what happens in a tackle. Edwards was just unlucky he was tackled like he was at Telstra Dome, which is the hardest ground in the comp.
That's very relevant. It's not as though Telstra Dome has a ridiculously differing hardness to other grounds - it's still grass. And regardless, it's not about how hurt Edwards was, it's about how much he could have been hurt.

Again, relevance? I'm fairly sure there was some form of cynicism involved in cam's comment, which related back to the big incident last week that was talked about in footy circles all week - do you know the one buddy, about Al Clarkson and his mouth? Wouldn't surprise me if you didn't to be honest. So what are you trying to say here - we should accept it if an umpire ****s us over a few times, because once, a few weeks ago, he did the same to you?

All in all, very humerous post. Well done.

Have you ever played infant. What he did was a cowardly illegal attack on a young kid half his size. Like a lot of bullies he hides his cowardice behind the facade of the 'game' he plays. I say ok bring it out in the open and see how he goes. FACE-TO-FACE:mad: Now let's see if the judiciary "stamps" him out for the 4 weeks he deserves!

4 weeks for a tackle? Fair dinkum, if Milburn even gets cited for it, the game will be the poorer for it. Why don't we just make it touch football and make the game purely a non contact sport while we're at it?

Nothing in it.

What I love is that we won by 10 goals without hitting 3rd gear. Long, long, long way to go tiges :thumbsu:

From today's Age. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/ne...a-bright-future/2008/08/03/1217097625347.html

He was far from done with. In the third, the 19-year-old Shane Edwards, a waif of a boy who had caused problems for Geelong with his ability to run and carry the football, was tackled on the wing by Milburn, who hurled the 71-kilogram Edwards head-first into the turf (and may have a case to answer this week for rough play).

I think we'll just have to wait and see what eventuates.

What I love is how every opposition supporter who comes on our board after beating us - barring a select few - is a complete ********, and very easy to argue with.

Have you done that to every team you've beaten in the last 18 weeks? If so, I'd suggest a life.

71-kilogram Edwards

Does it matter that he's young/inexperienced/skinny?

That it was a rough/illegal tackle (according to some) should be all that matters.

Can we fill a team with 71 kilo kids and expect them to not get tackled?

wasn`t that much in it for mine anyway .... umpires mistake because it was way after the whistle

I didn`t have that much problem with it

That piece was from the age, not from me personally, I just found it this morning. Also the fact it was after the whistle makes it that much worse.

To be honest I need to see it again, it was in front of me but I was on the 3rd level.

At the moment I guess the fact that there was no free kick and no remonstration from the other Tigers players points to there not being much in it.

To be honest I don't know that a lot of the other players saw it. Edwards was dispossessed, Stevie Johnson picked it up and slammed it forward, and it was at this time that Edwards got slammed into the ground. No one would still have had eyes on the tackle.

Yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to make it look like I was quoting you ;)

I wouldn't read too much into what the media says anyway...one article says Tambling was in your best, thenext says he was part of the problem.

Anyone know who we had on Tambling? He seemed to get a bit of it!
