The game looks brilliant possibly my most anticipated in a long time.

Mirror's Edge introduces players to Faith, a "runner" in a world where communication channels are highly monitored and the movement of human traffic is closely watched. When Faith's sister gets framed for a murder she did not commit, Faith finds herself on the edge of the city, on the wrong side of the law.
Mirror's Edge delivers players straight into the shoes of this modern day heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat, fast-paced chases and challenging puzzles. With a never-before-seen sense of movement and perspective, players are drawn into Faith's world.

It has a lot of Assassin's Creed in it. Similar feeling. It was a good feeling at the time but AC was one of the worst games in recent history.

My god, that game looks horrible. It looks exactly like the kinda game that'll set you back 10 minutes because you missed a jump because of the horrible camera angles. Plus it also looks very "WTF?" in terms of "Where the hell do I go next?".

The PS3 version of Mirror's Edge is to get exclusive DLC.

PS3 TO GET EXCLUSIVE MIRROR'S EDGE DLC
Sony has dismissed reports Mirror's Edge will be a timed PS3 exclusive - but said there will be downloadable content available only via PlayStation Network.

Confusion arose last month after German site Heise Online quoted David Reeves as saying the new EA title will arrive on PS3 first.

EA has since denied the claim and now a Sony spokesperson has done the same, telling Eurogamer, "There was a misunderstanding in terms of the quote that Mirror's Edge is to be a timed exclusive on PS3."

So, the game will be released for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on the same day - whenever that may be, as EA's still keeping quiet.

However, Sony did confirm that although Mirror's Edge is multi-platform, "PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title."

Plus, the spokesperson added, "Exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network."

It's not yet clear what form this content will take, or whether Xbox 360 and PC owners will get their own exclusive goodies. In the meantime, you can find plenty of Mirror's Edge videos, screenshots and previews over on the gamepage.

IMO it COULD be like that, but it also looks like it could very closely mirror(Pardon the pun), Portal, which is the same FPS style, very fast paced, often confusing, but still fun as hell and in the end easy enough to play.

Fingers crossed it isn't a huge file, but can see it being about 1.5GB, which means I will have to give it a miss and watch some more vids.

OMFG! This game has just SKYROCKETED to the top 3 on my list of games, d/l the demo now for an amazing new experience!

It's like The Matrix with a little bit of Half Life 2.

I had to lift my jaw off the floor after playing the demo.

How big is the demo download HBK?
917MB, you get the tutorial and one mission, so it's not huge in gameplay time, and there is also a possible online time-trial element which requires a pre-order code that I don't think is available down in Aus, but that looks interesting.

I'm not normally one to download anything over 700MB, but it is worth it, absolutely amazing potential at play, the controls are fluid and simple, but also have heaps of depth once you get used to them, graphics are unique with the RED vision thing, it has blown my mind thinking of the possibilities from just a couple of plays of the demo.

Also should mention the camera doesn't confuse at all, it is easy enough to play with.

i am the opposite. it didnt impress me much at all. seems a bit gimicky and will grow old fast imo. demo mission was lame too. very little action and did seem to be linear. actual game may be more sandboxy.

your glowing praises of it make me want to d/l the demo just to give it a shot

but other than what you've said hbk i just have zero care for this game

what REALLY makes it so good to you?....what is the amazing potential it has...??i don't really get it

I did too, before this demo.

It's hard to convey, but there is amazing potential for a real open game, allowing you to do anything, go anywhere and the free-running element is done really well, and I love the Matrix feel to it as well.

I can see why some wouldn't like it, why would you like a game that is actually different when you can simply go back to the bevy of samey First Person Shooters that are out there, I think this will get the same response as LBP, until you play it you probably won't realise the potential, it is a different game, and some just can't or don't want to handle that.

Cheers man.

Very tempted to check it out (I have a crappy d/l limit of 4 gigs). The more I read/hear about it, the more tempted and am to buy it.

Almost don't wont to know about it with the damage my wallet is taking at the moment. :( :D

Is it disorienting when doing tricks?

What about moving your head around, like in the video Jonesy posted, when walking on ledges, beams etc, do you have to look down at your feet yourself, or is that automatic?

i honestly dont understandwhy people review this game so badly.. sure it has many negatives but the positives of this game far outweigh them.. i cant wait for part 2 and 3..... im sure the game will include aot more variety and its glitches will be solved....
-graphics were great..
-game play was good...
-stroy was great too.....

i wont mention its faults as there were many.. but i see this franchise as become as one the greats in gaming...

Yeah my limit is only 6GB, so I was worried about d/ling it too, maybe it is best for you to try the EB 7 day trial if you don't want to d/l the demo.
Is it disorienting when doing tricks?
Not really, just getting used to what you can do takes a bit, there is a helpful reaction time('Bullet-time') button that you can use when taking on enemies or trying something tough, but you don't get a heap of the reaction time.

It's all pretty easy to do, the camera moves really fluidly, doesn't disorient you at all, there is a quick turn 180 degree button to do a spin if you need as well.

When walking on beams, if you have a PS3 you can use the SIXAXIS to keep you upright, or choose to use the sticks to balance properly.

hmmmmm i'm becoming tempted to d/l the demo....

the matrix feel bit got me.

might wait til the end of this internet limit month

Thanks HBK. Yeah good idea with the EB trial, might do that.
Best option if you have a small d/l limit, the demo is quite short.

Downloaded the demo and im totally lovin it, not often does a totally unique game come out and im really happy with how they've managed to do Mirrors Edge.

Like HBK said once u get used to the controls theres really alot u can do with them and it feels so fluid once u do the demo a few times.

It doesnt get too disorienting doing tricks altho wen jumping of a building and doing a roll upon landing does give u a bit of motion sickness lol.

Overall loving it and will probly end up buying the full game.
