Fair enough then. Didn't realise they were a sponsor. Fyfe isn't an owner now though, they're owned by Carlton United Brewers. He would've made a very good profit out of it though!

Nothing to do with Fyfe's investment - CUB bought Pirate Life in 2017, and they've finally figured out that trying to shove Carlton Mid or some other beer down Freo fan's throats isn't going to work anymore. CUB is the official beer partner of the AFL, so they've chosen to sponsor Freo via their Pirate Life brand. Given CUB put money into opening a Pirate Life venue in Perth, they are probably thinking they could use that to take on Gage Roads for hospitality dollars.
