Her chances were overhyped I believe and the money followed... so even though she failed to many I think it was an amazing run considering company.

No he didnt PM me, I don't know the guy any better than I know you, but I'm saying I have asked some newbie questions about racing on this forum and Seth always tries to help out, which is better than just ranting about some misquote, like you are right now. Who cares - I'm just telling you, you will not become a legend of the turf just because you pointed out a mistake that someone else made and then ranted about it for 10 posts. 1) Its a public forum, the topic generated a discussion, it went off topic but it happens all the time. If you dont want to read it... dont read it.

2) I left this forum a long time ago as a result of seth's carry on. He is hard to take and gets a kick out of this so thats great for him.

3) Dirty I tend to think your right, but your not going to get anything from persisting. Seth loves the argument I think and its unlikely he is going to admit he is wrong. All your doing is keeping him entertained.

I can guarantee you I am not Seth or even a mate of his. I don't know how to prove that, other than to suggest if its bothering you that much, search previous posts, there are plenty of instances where we have been online at the same time. Apologies mate. I just get frustrated severely when people pretend to be knowledgable on a subject and then argue with anyone to hold on to that perception. Its my pet hate. Using throwaway lines that they heard somewhere that just dont make sense thinking that it impresses people.

Totally hear what you saying... I'm an immigrant from the American Football thread and I follow it quite closely and hold my own opinions... however the vast majority of posters there come on and just repeat something I've already seen on sports illistrated or yahoo... etc etc

Same happens here I guess people come on tipping the 1.50 favourite.

So yes... Miss Finland... very very good horse and as you would expect is extremely well placed in terms of races

You cant fault the horse, trainer, or jockey, its just an awesome combination.

The banter is just a bit of harmless fun, I'm sure Dirty gets a buzz out of stirring people up aswell. Its funny to see the exact point where someone's brain snaps. More power to you Dirty, you didn't fade and got a few quips in, so it was a good battle. haha.

I don't know much about the horse game, am learning as we go, but do you think if amazingly Craig Williams was able to waste down to 49 kilos to ride Miss Finland in the Cox Plate it would have made a difference to the end result? People were very critical of Cropp's ride on here directly after the race, maybe because many were talking through their pockets I guess.

I guess thats the beauty of it and why i've taken to horse racing over the last 12-18 months. I think the point you raise may be right on the mark... if he was on board... the whole relationship could have given it a shake.

Would she have won... I dont know. Even with all the she still came 5th in a Cox Plate, thats why I rate the horse so highly in all these 'other' races with Williams back on board.

I dont want to join the argument but a few posts back the point was raised that if she keeps running it will only hurt her reputation, not her breeding or something. Her reputation will be what brings the $$ in... so I didnt quite follow that, I think seth said it. Obviously she retires now the asking price would be pheonominal... she wins a couple more big races... it goes up, if she fades, it goes down.

Its all a balancing act... as an alternative to going international I would suggest they dont race her much longer. I dont know what the money in breeding is (with reputation in-tact) but I know a lot of Greyhounds are retired early if they have a high strike rate cuz thats where the money is.

Good post J. Not sure and I suppose we'll never know but Williams is a far better rider than Cropp which is no disrespect to her. I didn't back anything in the plate because I thought MF would get boxed in as she was my pick so I let it go and just watched. My thoughts were that she would need too much luck. I may have if Williams rode her though.

If her foals are good types their value is top of the hill whether she wins the cox plate this year or doesn't win another race. All just my opinion.

Apart from He's No Pie Eater I reckon Ambitious General is the danger to Miss Finland. The way he hit the line in the Rosehill Guineas had Derby written all over it. She should win though.
