Hey guys,

So I've just recently had a tooth removed. It is the first premolar on my right side (right next to the canine) and although I don't believe it looks hideous, my inner vanity is coming out and making me feel quite self conscious about it.

People tell me it's not noticeable during regular conversation which is probably correct but I feel self conscious now when laughing or yawning because it definitely brings the gap out into the world.

Anyone here have missing teeth or generally jacked up teeth? What are your experiences with getting implants or bridges or dentures? Worth the money?

I would say it depends on what your face looks like. I'm not a toothy smiler so I doubt it would be noticeable. Wildcats captain Damian Martin on the other hand looks like he has about 25 teeth on each row so if one was missing it would stand out.

I'd probably get something to fill the gap if it was me out of fear of the lack of pressure forcing the other teeth around the gap to fall out of line.

I lost a similar tooth
Got an implant I spend a lot of time water picking stringy meat out of it chicken and pork is worst.
Im happy to still have the implant,I kept cracking the edge of the teeth near the missing one and if your getting an implant do it quick because 2 years and I needed some bone graft
Cheaper option is a bridge and if its not noticeable it might be a better option

it's time

My dad has had what I think they call a removable partial denture for a tooth that was knocked out for 25-30 years now, and you can't tell. His is a front tooth though.

You can slip it on and off without much pain. Might take a bit of getting used to, but he doesn't think about it at all he tells me.

Had a cracked back upper molar removed a couple of years ago. Considered an implant, but it was going to be expensive and tricky given the location - not a lot of bone between the mouth and the sinus cavity. It's impossible to see unless I'm actively trying to show someone, so I just left it.

If it was next to my canine I probably would have had it done. Much more visible, and I'd be worried about the teeth around the gap shifting. Not a cheap exercise though - I think I was quoted $7K before insurance.

A partial denture is definitely worth investigating. A mate of mine got one after losing an incisor playing rugby, you'd never know it was fake.

I'm in a similiar spot at the moment.

Third tooth from the back of my mouth (I guess technically second from the back since I still have my wisdom teeth) is probably going to need a root canal or extraction.

Can't really see it but worried with nothing there it will end up screwing with the structure of my mouth. On the flip side I don't want to spend a couple of grand on a root canal that might fail anyway.
