News Mitch Cleary stood down indefinitely - AFL have really stepped in it this time

Imagine being an AFL captain and having your mum wife get an AFL reporter sacked because he tweeted her instagram photo, a photo of her breaking the lockdown rules which then cost your footy club $45k. This whole thing is a joke and everyone looks stupid except for Mitch Cleary.

So he was 'stood down' for a day while a simple 'investigation' was taking place?

wat?

'Oi Mitch, you posted her name on your twitter, you're not meant to do that, take it down'.

'Oh yeah, righto, sorry about that'.

'All good, just don't do it again'.

What am I missing here?

The Age now has an article up about how Trent and Brooke are 'doing it tough' after the breach and fine.

Yes, it's right alongside several articles about the massive VIC shutdown just announced and the effect that will have on people's health and wellbeing.

You have to feel for them in all this - have you seen the state of Brooke’s nails?

Are the Richmond football club the softest sporting club in Australia? Didn't want to go into a hub, their captain throws a fit and blames everyone but his wife for her mistakes - attempting to get someone sacked, Dimma sooks it up at Longmire.

How precious are they? Jesus wept, they need to act like adults instead of complaining children.

So it was a breach of rules put in place to protect the well being of individuals that breach the hub isolation rules?

Sure.........

Actually have to agree with the AFL, because its not as if Mrs Cotchin contributed to making her actions widely available for scrutiny and we all know how intensively a private person she is.

Shame on you Mitch, her breach should never have seen the light of day.

What’s up troll!

And this: https://www.afl.com.au/news/480420/afl-media-statement-mitch-cleary from the AFL website, https://www.afl.com.au

So, troll, Brooke Cotchin did not attempt to sack Mitch Cleary. If anything, she helped in his re-instatement. Mitch Cleary is back as an AFL media employee, as you can see from the second link.

Other than this, keep on trolling!

And have you seen her hair with those split ends - don't know how she sleeps at night, thoughts and prayers, poor thing!

Meanwhile, there are probably a few families sleeping on cardboard outside of Flinders Street station due to no income related to COVID-19 shutdowns and are now having a sook about being fined for breaching curfew laws, what a bunch of whingers...?

After she realised she was losing the PR battle lol nice try

Mitch Cleary has always been a part of the AFL media cabal who have stuck the boot into Hawthorn; tried to get our players suspended and howled with indignation whenever our coach has criticised the umps. But he hasn't shown the same consistency with many opposition clubs. So do i give a shiit about him? No. Do I care about the corrupt AFL eating their own? No.

Up your arse, Poindexter

The funny thing is, is that you would be right, if the AFL themselves hadn't released a statement stating that he was stood down indefinitely.

It sounds very much like public backlash has caused some parties to reverse their decisions.

If there hadn't been anything major happening - a slap on the wrist per se -, then we wouldn't have even needed any statement from any party - as there would be no need to make it public.

I want to add though, I don't think the Cotchin's themselves had a great deal to do with this decision. Seems more like the AFL kicking up a stink because it makes them look bad and not in control of the situation. Typical hierarchical behaviour. Difference is, they didn't expect Mitch to have this much support.

It'll all be washed under the rug from here, but make no mistake, their brand is still very badly damaged from this particular incident. It'll be interesting to see from here if they do this again, following any future incidents.

Time will tell, but something tells me, the AFL are not an organization that will change its behaviour or way of doing things, anytime soon

I remember a thread ages ago, in the thread it was brought up that cotchin used to bully people at school and the richmond supporters jumped down peoples throats. Not sure if I believed it then but if he did get mitch sacked, then perhaps I do believe it.
