Both assistants from last year who have not got the chop it would seen. The only casualty it seems from the coaching panel so far has been Elshaug. Mulkerns was the conditioning coach.

Just wondering what you guys think about Mitchell and Libba and whether they should stay or go. For me:

Libba should be shown the door, i'm just not sure he is up to AFL standard as an assistant coach. He was/is the midfield coach and his set ups on match days are very very ordinary. He needs to go.

Mitchell would be 50/50 at this stage, although he'll probably go as well. Not sure he and Pagan can have a good working relationship after what transpired only a few weeks ago.

That would mean Ratten and Bradley in, and Libba and Mitchell out.
Just one more point, are T.D's and Dempseys roles at the club safe?

I agree. Both Libba and Mitchell should be shown the door.

I don't think Libba has done fantastic things with our midfield and regarding Mitchell... There is no way in hell he and Denis will be able to work together after the debacle a few weeks back.

Libba should definitely go - I agree some of his midfield structuring this year was abominable.

Mitchell - will probably have to go - because his position is now virtually untenable - irrespective of his talent or lack thereof.

Two wooden spoons in a row would suggest to anyone that change in the coaching panel is required.

I'm not overly happy about Elshaugh being the only one being replaced. I'd like either Libba & Mitchell go too. If they both stay it would mean our panel consists of at least 4 midfielders, Mitchell, Libba, Ratten & Bradley (I can't remember where Crosisca palyed).

Surely we need some sort of 'team balance' in our coaching team.

Mitchell's been offered a contract. It's in today's Herald-Sun.

You don't think the Board really want Pagan. They said all along that Mitchell would be staying. Keeping Pagan and losing Mitchell would really sh1t me.

Wow, that is a surprise. I really didn't think he (Mitchell) would want to stick around at the club after what had happened.
Printed in newspaper... don't trust them anymore... till we see CFC official statement I wont believe a thing.

IMO Libba wil stay next year and keep the spot warm for Voss. If Voss wasn't staying in Brissie this year, then I think it would be a done deal now.

As for Mitchell, given that he didn't stab Pagan in the back, but just went to the board, as requested, and presented how he thinks thew club should be coached.........I don't think he has to be sacked, and I think Pagan can work with him.
I actually think that if anyone ends the relationship it will be Mitchell, given the speculation about his "involvement" in undermining the coach. He might take Crossisca's job.

CARLTON is expected to offer assistant coach Barry Mitchell a new deal next week.........
It's believed Mitchell's support among key Carlton powerbrokers was enough to ensure he would be given a new contract.
Jesus here we go again JTG. Read the article.
It's believed.......is expected to.......might just.......maybe won't........don't really know.........just making it up..........Carro told me.....
Hardly definitive JTG.

I think keeping Mitchell is good for the club as he has done some pretty good things during his reign, especially what is evident through Setanta. Not sure how good it is for harmony between the coaches but only time will tell.

As for Libba, I think hes time should have been up. He has had his chance and with the recuritment of Ratten and Braddles, its time for somebody else to have a go at coaching our midfield.

Can't believe we initially signed and still have Terry Daniher. Has already got the chop form three other clubs - Bomber, Pies and Saints.

Heard him address the players a few years back at quarter time in the VFL. Was the most embarassing address I've heard from a coach at that level. Sounded like he was trying to motivate a group of his mates in a country pub. Had nothing constructive to say.

How awesome would it be to flick Libba and get M.Voss as the midfield coach?

Great News to hear we kept Barry Mitchell he did a fantastic job with the Bullants :thumbsu: next year will be the bullants year

Glad he's staying. Seems to have got the best out of the bullants...finals excluded unfortunately.
Would have been very rough if he got sacked after he was asked by the board to make a presentation for the senior coaching role. I can't see Pagan minding too much...most people would apply for a job if asked to by senior management.

i've meet him a few times once was at Ballarat a few years ago real nice chap:thumbsu: glad he came to carlton when he was a player :thumbsu:

Barry Mitchell the bloke is great, always has time for a chat and is pretty good with most supporters. I just thought the working relationship between himself and Denis would be strained at best, and thus see Mitch move on.

I would hope that Micthell and Braddles would be working with our midfield. Both were classy players in their time.

The only benefit I see with Libba is helping our defensive smaller players and taggers. Because as we know all he was as a player was an annoying and niggly worm :p

To lose someone like Mitchell and keep Pagan, who's been a disaster for us, would be the last straw.

i could't see why he couldn't keep coaching the Bullants even if he had of been sacked from carlton side of it glad they didn't

wonder how many times sheedy from Essendon were close to being sacked
especally after this years Performance anynone else would have been shown the door he's past his very best wish we had him as coach way back before we got parkin before he got essendons coaching job

back to barry mitchell, ballarat was the 2nd time he remembered me from when i met him at Carlton family Day,
we also could have had Ken Judge he's a top Bloke too he came to Brim back in 1995 doing a talk very nice as well caught up with him at Carlton as well and remembered me :) with all the people he meets its a wonder how he'd remember everyones name ;)
