There's nothing I've seen about being a chef that would make it a dream job - shit hours, low pay unless you're really really good, working in a hot kitchen, plenty of injury risks with sharp knives, hot pans, naked gas flames etc

Also chefs are notorious hotheads so whilst you're working your way up most likely your boss will be an arseh*le

Not to mention the drugs.

My best mate used to own and run a restaurant in Richmond 15 years ago. He was forever having to find a new head chef. Highly volatile individuals. Goes with the territory, given they miss out on family and friends time most weekends because they're cooking for other people's friends and family..
