Apparently 2 police officers were hired by a drug lord to shoot him as he believes his wife was calling Big Papi "Big Papi"
Crazy, weird, corrupt world out there

Riley with his 10th HR (in 26th game) ties it in bottom of the 9th and Albies with walkoff double in the 11th. Braves into sole 1st place. Have won 21 of 30 games and 8 of 10 series. Batting is running hot and pitching is slowly getting better (bullpen still dodgy and 2 starters are struggling). Keuchel will help.

Yankees have acquired Edwin Encarnacion from the Seattle Mariners.

not complaining about the trade, didn't cost much, but Stanton is back in a few days and Voit is playing well, where is he going to play?? would rather they trade for pitching

Just watched the Cubs beat the Dodgers 2-1 on a two run homer by Anthony Rizzo in the top of the ninth. Kind of a sentimental game for me. My 90 year old mother died three years ago today and was a huge Cubs fan. She died without ever seeing them win a World Series, just a bit over four months before the 2016 win. Mum really liked Anthony Rizzo who she called, "That nice Italian boy". :)

Voit and Edwin DH/1b. Stanton Left. Brett 4th out.

Clint's getting traded for a pitcher

White Sox get the better of the Cubs in the first game of the crosstown series. Schwarber hits home run in first pitch of Cubs innings but no further cub runs from there. Jimenez put the Sox in front in the ninth, his first game at Wrigley after being dealt from the Cubs to the Sox in the Quintana trade.
In form lefty Cole Hamels got to 2500 career strikeouts today also.

Only the Mets new pitching coach could be 82 years old. I love it!

Long time between drinks, 20 years between head pitching roles in the major league.

Didn't make it easy on him debuting the sixth starter in Syndergaard's absence. Bit of a circus again there at the moment

Detroit — You knew it would be bad. You knew it would be real bad, and if you’re a logical baseball fan, you were willing to accept it and stomach it.

Well, under one condition. For this to be acceptable or stomach-able, there has to be some glimmer of hope, some peek at the prize, some spark of energy. The Tigers are offering none of that right now, and if there’s a low point in their rebuild — before the next low point — they hit it Sunday.

Dodgers make history with their 3rd walk off homer by a rookie in a row!
