I posted a genuine observation and question about Geelong supporters leaving early last night which was deleted. I reworded it so it sounded like less of a troll. It was locked. If I had wanted to be a troll surely I would have done it before now. The mod was some guy who has been on here less than 2 years(a Hawthorn supporter who joined in September 08 surprise surprise). Surely there should be some criteria as to who becomes a mod.

Some other guy posted a thread about Adelaide supporters being idiots which has 5 pages of vitriol. Yet no action has been taken.

Some consistency please.

Firstly, consistency is an elusive goal. It's also probably not something you'd want in its pure form. Context and intention play a big part, and past history will also be looked at.

While you may not have intended anything the mods may have seen it and decided to head off a potential problem that would have disrupted the board.

The adelaide supporters thread was moved to B13 well before you posted this.

So topics are locked or deleted because mods fear the immaturity of others?

If it is a thread of a type that always causes a fight, the mod might fall back on the decision made regarding the earlier thread(s) and close or delete it. They also might leave it to see if people have grown up in the intervening period since the last one. It's up to them as they are responsible for the state of their board.

It is the way BF is Noddy. Over the last 2 months it was Carlton and we were hammered on the main board with trolling threads everywhere. Just wait for Juddy to play 1 bad game and we lose they will be up there again!!

Not to mention the threads on Ratten , Murphy , Gibbs , Warnock , McLean etc etc and the list goes on. Everyone likes to stick the boots in when you are down or your players are in a flat period and you will find one clubs supporter base on here the main culprit.

Well, this is disappointing.

Like all mods, I am open to discuss the reasons why I have made a decision. All you had to do is PM me. But for some reason, you didn't.

As for casting slurs about my credentials to be a mod, especially the ridiculous 'bandwagoner' call that's also a little disappointing.

Anyway, If you decide to play the ball rather than the man, feel free to PM me.

Being carded for pointing out such inappropriate comments to the children you've appointed as moderators? (I believe most are of an age where they should be called adults, but their actions would indicate otherwise)

Being carded for posting pro Brisbane comments on the Brisbane board?

Being denied access from boards because of the immaturity of others?

I could go on.

Since you obviously don't want to engage in a dialogue via the suggested means, I'll respond here.

First up: I wasn't responsible for deleting your posts. But, going back over the thread there is a very good reason why they were deleted.

Secondly: why didn't you report the post you found offensive so a mod could deal with it as Chief suggested? Bit hard to respond to something you haven't seen.

Thirdly: I'm more than happy to respond to any queries or questions you have re moderation, but for whatever reason you don't contact me. Instead you seem hell-bent on ascribing the perceived faults of the board on my shoulders, which suggests to me pursing an agenda is more important than achieving a resolution.

You want respect? Then start engaging in a dialogue rather than taking misinformed potshots.

JD has some very valid points. The whole vet thing carries no weight anymore. I remember reading in one of the stickies "older members will be treated differently" something along those lines. You get carded by someone that has been here for a year or two for a comment that is clearly a bigfooty traditional joke.

Tell me about it, it seems they continued the paedophile thread (well over 1000 posts) for over 4 months on a board I do not wish to name. Seems Bigfooty has developed that rapist / paedophile culture rather than the family site they solely claim to be.

And another thing. Why is my profile constantly viewed by Moderators? I mean for over 2 weeks now there is none of the random members coming up as the last 10 members to view my profile it is just members in bold, yes all 10 in bold they have been. Crazy times???

Now I have heard a rumour there are topics about me on the moderators board so one has to figure that bigfooty is now out to get me and waiting for any slip up is what I gather from this.

The troll fest has begun on the main board and in typical fashion the moderators choose to ignore it because it is directed against Essendon.

I have reported a few but honestly how many do you want me to report before the message gets through?

I had a post deleted that simply said I will enjoy watching Collingwood lose in the finals yet some of these posts that I have reported are disgraceful.

Double standards.

A few points.

1. Posts that are reported have a greater chance of having action taken against them than posts that are not. However reporting does not guarantee removal. Context is important, as is right of reply, as is not derailing discussion. Other posts might be left behind, and sometimes they are see, sometimes they are not. Sometimes we wait to see if anyone objects or if it slides on by, so as not to step in when nobody even has a problem. Horses for courses.

2. Not sure how being on BigFooty for a long time is a relevant issue. It's more that a clean record over a long time serves you well as your reputation earns you a greater level of tolerance.

3. Profiles are viewed by moderators for a few reasons. If it is mostly moderators, chances are you have had a visitor message reported, or a private message reported or simply post in a style that is similar to someone else and it needs to be checked out. No different to customs having a set of flags that require extra attention, but in no way does that mean you as an individual are being targeted. It could be a timely reminder to check your posting style and how you are interracting with others though.

2. Not surprised at all by that response.

Common sense would tell you that someone with tens of thousands of posts and never having been red carded that they have a fairly good grasp on what is acceptable and what isn't. I'd think anyone looking out for such long term customers would take that into account when a moderator feels they have made a problem post. A simple 'head up' as it were.

Also, it is worth noting that team board moderators are some of the main offenders when it comes to trolling on the main board. Baiting from mods and then their childish victory lap when they finally get to pull the trigger doesn't exactly help either.

3. Moderators with bruised egos are some of the worst stalkers on this site.

Mate it is no secret there are topics about tons of people on the mods board. We have a whole sub-board dedicated to topics on people. As mods, we have to discuss people's behaviour across the site, how to respond and so on. Some of them are brief, some are long. It is part of our efforts to be more consistent and fair, attempting to get a fuller picture of a user's behaviour before deciding what to do.

There's no conspiracy here, just co-ordination of effort and management of the site.

Dude you have an infraction list 4 pages long. Even so, mods have gone EASY on you, with at least the last 3 serious infractions being 2nd level - by rights you should have lost your account months ago. You're a long-term user and so you get breaks from most mods.

You have nothing to complain about but, as my Dad was fond of saying, keep it up and I'll GIVE you something to complain about.

My 3 points were not necessarily responding to you. They are just an overview of how things are supposed to work, a rule of thumb if you like.

However re point 2, that is generally how it works yes. I disagree with the last paragraph by and large, as I have yet to see where mods have baited someone into a response, then flicked them and celebrated.

Re point 3, it reads more like a personal perception than being a real growing concern IMO.
