What has he done to impress you P&P?

The boy is all class, carries himself unbelievably well. The next cricketing prodigy.

I've been told he's in our squad for the under 19's world cup, which is a feat in itself.

And in the NSW under-23 side as well, not bad at 16. Kerry O'Keefe was talking about him on the ABC during the tests.

My hazy memory thinks that Moises played at the same school or club as Kerry O'Keefe's son ... there is a Stephen O'Keefe in the squad as well (NSW captain) ... is this Stephen related to Kerry?

How'd you hear all about this guy? never heard the name. Have you seen him bowl or going by the age?

Saw him play two matches at the Under 19's carnival on tape. In one, he opened the bowling and took 2-30 odd, then made 25 with the bat.

The kid will be playing for Australia before he turns 20.

do you know his background? The name sounds Jewish.

This is what i found on Google

Moises Henriques is from Maputo, Mozambique. He did some training in electrical engineering in Hillcrest (near Durban). Henriques is also skilled in repairing and setting up computers. He has been doing this with Joe's computer project for several years. He still devotes some time to this, but most of his time is now spent on running Cross-Connections, a Christian networking ministry for the city of Durban. He is going from ministry to ministry collecting information about what Christians are involved in around the city. There is also a web site that has been set up for this ministry and soon a monthly newspaper will be printed about various ministries around the city.

Different Moises, my friend.

Don't know anything about his background, only saw his tapes.

I know we need an allrounder but an entire squad of them is going a bit far isnt it? ;)

He was born in Portugal and came here when he was about 2. He made people stand up and take notice when he 10 wickets in a first grade match in Sydney earlier this season.

As for Stephen O'Keeffe, he went to Richmond High.

Interesting.

Is he a swing bowler, line and length bowler, one who uses the seam....outright bloody fast pace for a 16 year old?

Will keep an eye out for him.

Both Kerry and Stephen are O'Keeffe, not O'Keefe (which Johnny O'Keefe was) and are 35 years apart, so with Stephen O'Keeffe being born in Malaysia and being a left arm orthodox bowler, not a leggie like Kerry... I don't know if they are related!

Cricinfo normally puts a "son of" or "father of" tag in the player profile if they are... but maybe they wait until he played first class cricket...

Father: Marsh, RW;
Brother: Marsh, JI;

And happy 17th birthday Moises for yesterday!

Yer good team, that. Henriques was in the paper here a while back, saying that he has been clocked at 140km/hr at 16, so thats some serious pace at that age.

Watch out for Oswald-Jacobs as well, pretty good allrounder, used to open the bowling at our school a few years ago, was opening in the firsts when he was in year 10, his bowling must have dropped off a bit since then tho, but his batting has improved a mile.

Remember Paul Allegretto for next years team :)

Pure pace, but unlike Lee, he actually thinks his bowling through. Bowls a good line, at a great clip.

i've never seen young Moises bowl, but have heard great things about him.

Anyone whos opening the bowling in first grade (especially St George) at 16 has serious talent.

However, without trying to be a wet blanket we need to be serious here. You can not really tell anything much about a quickie until they are at least 18, usually a bit later.

Quick bowling is one of the most physically gruelling specialities in any team sport.

Bowling so quick at such a young age is all well and good, but how does a growing body handle that is another matter......

For quickies who have talent and are starting to break through you wanna look at Scott Brant, Shaun Tait and a bit younger is Aaron Bird.

Moises has the talent these guys have, but we won't know how far he will go until at least 2 more years.
