We were in the race to sign Judd at the end of 2007, obviously he went and chased the $$$ at Carlton in the end, BUT let's say he did choose us.

We would have had to give the Eagles picks 4 (Morton), 14 (Grimes) and 21 (Maric) to land him.

Now I guess the question is, would you prefer 3 possible guns (especialy Grimes and Morton), or would you rather have landed arguably the best midfielder of the past decade in Judd?

It's a tough one for me...

Like MM said, if we had gone after Judd I would have thought we would have given up something like picks 4, 21 and Brock.

I'm glad we didn't get him because as good as he is he would have found it a lot harder at Melbourne than he does at Carlton. He is also IMO past his best.

I don't think he is past his bext , isnt he 2nd fav for the Chas? I think he players a different role now than what he did over a WCE.

Anyone who can kick 5 goals from the middle in a half though would be a good player to have on the list.

The leadership qualities we would of gained through Judd are a big loss, you can tell the difference he has made on some of the young Carlton boys.

But looking at it this way, I think we may have benefited from missing out. I have no doubt these three players will be very important to our next premiership. They have have shown glimspes of what they can do, once they mature they will become consistent and we will be tharashing Carlton...

I really don't understand how people can choose Judd, yes he's a great player but he's like 25/26 and us getting him would have done nothing for us Premiership-wise because we'd give up so much to get him leaving us with Judd and bugger all else.

Give me Morton, Grimes and Maric any day of the week.

I think we would've traded TJ to West Coast instead of Brisbane, and hence it would've cost us Morton, Maric and Grimes as the opening poster said...

Given it's going to take us as long as it is, I think I'll go with the three boys... Although Grimes is the only one I'm certain about at this stage... We've seen glimpses from Cale and I think he'll become a fantastic player, while the jury is still out on maric a little, but he does have all the tools...

Definitely take Judd, the guy is a dead set superstar and a quality leader. The influence he would have had arounf the club also would have had a great impact. However i am happy with morton, grimes and amric also as they will all be very good players

Judd's not enough to get Carlton to a premiership. They've sold their soul for 6th place. He wouldn't get us to a premiership either (if for no other reason that by the time we get there his career will be in its twilight, at the Robbo stage). By contrast, Grimes & Morton & Maric will all be integral to our next premiership.

We could win a premiership within 5 years. "Could" is the key word because 5 years is enough for even the worst of teams to turn around but it'd still be unlikely. Judd would have been playing still.

Anyone who voted Judd, because of leadership or skill, or any lame reason. What happens if Judd , gets injured/suspended/tagged out the game? He is only 1 person, Atleast if Morton/Grimes/Maric are not playing there is 2 more.
