i hate blake because he is average and plays shithouse tournaments to improve rankings

So true, throw him in some of the Clay Court Tournaments and he'd go out first round each time. First class hack.

Federer is an arrogant twat. Show some grace like Rafa.
Your a deadset flog saying Federer is arrogant. He is one of the most respected and loved sportsmen to ever grace the earth. As graceful as ever in victory or defeat.
Where do u draw this conclusion nuff nuff. And who is ur idea of a more graceful sportsmen.

Why would someone -hate- michael chang?

How closely do you follow tennis? The general consensus around Fed fans who follow tennis closely, is that he is arrogant, but that it is justified.

I believe he is not gracious in defeat. Read this thread why, plenty of evidence.

I think the fact that he is so gracious in victory causes people to fore go his more ungracious side.

Federer is great, but he is not that gracious in defeat in my opinion.

Examples? I feel Federer is nothing short of a role model sportsperson.

As for the rest of my list, Lendl and Chang - boring to watch. I really have no reason to dislike Agassi, but I never liked him. Perhaps to do with his early days, flamboyant/mullet and general annoyance, but he turned out to be a role model sportsman

Hewitt is a shocking role model, bad loser. Nadal reminds a lot of Hewitt except with more ability. Phillippoussis - well, say no more.

Jankovic is simply a cheat, calls the trainers EVERY game and usually at a time to slow the momentum or her opponent. Sharapova, well I hate her dad mainly but she is like a robot, there is little natural flair in her game. As much as I disliked Henin, at least she actually had talent worth watching

If you take clay court tournaments seriously you have no idea, the worst surface by far. Blake isn't a great player but when has he ever come out and said he was? He always talks up how important fans are to the game and never fails to congratulate his opponent. Who cares if he is American.

Taken from the other thread.

I'm still a little bit disappointed a match like that was decided at night. I understand it was appropriate to finish it because of the special occasion we were under. Fair play, the crowds were there and they wanted a proper ending. But I think more people left feeling sorry for me than they were happy for Rafa, which hurts me a little.

Doesn't sound too gracious there. Pulling out an excuse. Having the nerve to say people were more sorry for him than happy for Rafa. Don't get me wrong, Federer is usually a gentleman. However, he is not the saint that Federer fans make him out to be.

Seriously....are you that one eyed?

You say Federer is the most gracious loser ever....then if that wasn't enough you say Nadal is a shocking role model and a bad loser?

Rafa is one of the most humble sportsman. After a match, win or lose, he gives credit to his opponent. 'He played well no?'. True tennis fans will agree with me that Rafa is much more humble and gracious to his opponents than Federer.

Please provide evidence if you're gonna make a claim like that.

I follow tennis religiously and am a massive Federer fan and have followed his career with great interest and he is the reason i love the sport and continue to watch it.
What coz the consensus on this forum of a bunch of so call no alls that makes him arrogant.
Where is ur proof of him not being gracious in defeat and when has he ever bagged another player, he has always had great words for Rafa and his enormous talent.

You fail at many things.

give us an example of nadals arrogance or its just your fantasy world again? i understand you know very little about tennis, (after reading your rankings post :D which comdey central) but i would be interested to know where exactly you found him arrogant

Read the fed ego thread, also try and his my post in another thread about comments he made about andy murray after losing. The consensus about feds ego is actually well known, obviously you dont read MTF the biggest tennis forum in the world and also commented by mats wilander and boris becker on euro sport that when federer loses they dont like his comments.

Roger Federer is a freak of an athlete. An absolute champion. I wouldn't go as far as calling him a horrific/sad human being but no doubt he is arrogant. This is warranted though.

He does give praise to his opponent but it's usually limited praise. He is not a gracious loser. After losing a match he doesn't even want to look at his opponent's eyes when shaking hands. He would usually start the press conference by saying something like my backhand was letting me down instead of he played very well. I still can't believe he said what he said after Wimbledon in that Federer's ego thread. Disgraceful.

Rafa has the upmost respect for all his opponents. Takes every opponent seriously before the match and gracious no matter what the outcome is after the match. IMO, he is the most competitive athlete in the world. Never ever gives up. Rafa yelling vamos or come on after an important point may piss some people off but he's only doing it to pump himself up. He doesn't scream it out like Hewitt. The only thing arrogant I see about Rafa is the amount of time he takes before going for the coin toss.

Oh coz i don't read a friggen forum that a heap of ppl have an opinion on makes him an arrogant prick does it.
Ah and like Boris Becker was such a gracious loser wasn't he.

Considering its an individual sport of course he is going to talk about himself especially when ppl ask him questions about his gamenot his opponents and everytime i've heard him make a speech he has made good comments about his opponents.

I cannot believe this is even been spoken about, gee if Fed is arrogant whats that make Tiger Woods.

Or the time wasting he does when he is under pressure yeah thats real sportsman like isn't it. Taken a leaf out of Djokovic's book.

As u have said yes he does give praise to his opponents but very little.
Well what do u want the bloke to do he just lost a match and is disappointed. The guy has set himself a standard that very few have reached and when it goes against u and your not used to it then sometimes u don't know how to react.

Sounds like not many of u have played competitive sport in ya lives as yes u praise the opponent/s but how many do u know go over the top with it.

As far as i'm concerned i respect my opponent but i ain't going to talk him up til i'm blue in the face.

if you ignore other peoples opinion thats your problem but what makes you think your opinion is valid as well then? forum is a place where opinion post their opinions, if you hate opinions then dont post here.

I challenged someone in the other thread, find me one comment where fed after losing said he got outclassed? after losing to murray in dubai he criticised murrays tactics, after losing to nole in AO he criticised his tactics as well, after losing to rafa at FO he said...who cares about french, after losing to rafa at wimbledon, he blamed the light, said people felt sorry for him more than they felt happy for rafa and also he kept telling people if his defensive and offensive game works properly he is unbeatable..

i am sorry but your theory of "two wrongs make 1 right" is wrong. Pete sampras, bjon borg, rod laver, jimmy connons, andre agassi etc were also humble, win or lose.Johnny mac might be a weirdo on court but off court he always praised his opponents.Federer is a good sportsman when he wins, praised rafa so much after winning wimbledon last year, but what happened to those comments this year? oh thats right he lost

like call it cheating? or unfortunate? saying he didnt deserve it? and you wouldnt call it arrogant? looks like you think you are the only one who played competitive sport here  Well, what you say roger, how did you find bigfooty????

Anyone who follows tennis would know that Nadal is in no way arrogant. And he is extremely gracious in defeat. Have you not heard him speak after he loses to Federer? He is full of praise for him after he loses.
