Who has been Adelaide's most useless player ever but they have played a game for the crows.

Clayton Lamb, Linden Stevens, Adam Richardson, Aaron Keating

just some names that ring a bell for being useless and dodgy

David GALLAGHER was pretty 'special'

I would say Jason McCartney is up there while playing for the crows - considering the talent the guy had - did SFA with it

But unlike most of the other underachievers on our list, at least something good came from him. A straight swap for Mark Stevens.

How bad was McCartney's luck when it came to flags though?

Was recruited by Collingwood in the offseason after they won the flag in 1990
Was not selected for our Premiership in 1997
Selected but lost the 'unloseable' grand final to his old side with the Kangas in 1998
Rubbed out of the 1999 Premiership for thugging Clark Keating.

Personally I thought Lamb was a bit stiff not to get more games, although he was a bit past it when drafted.
But Richo for me.....................gread lead, makes Biglands look like Mods. :D

Lamb was only 27-28 when selected for the inaugural list, but breaking his leg in the 1990 SANFL Prelim might have cost him the pace and unwavering courage required to make the step up.

TALENT!

Well done DT. A very impressive line-up of losers if I've ever seen one.

Evan Hewitt at CHB is a bit risky though - he had one good game in that position. ;) :D

Adam Saliba

More skill than 80% of AFL players will ever have. Could read the play & seemed to have all the time in the world to use the ball.

And wasted it all! Too stupid to realise what an opportunity he had.

I'm very disappointed B Dabrowski didn't get a guernsey.

I wonder what our strike rate is???

Ive said it before and Im going to say it again now, I think Adam Richardson was a little unlucky not to play more games.

His first game was pretty good I think he kicked 1.3 looked very lively but his set shots let him down. He did look ordinary in his second game against Richmond and I think struggled for a touch, but surely he should of been given more of a shot considering we had no other stand out replacements.

Ahhh its good to be back after a 2 week siesta on the Gold Coast :D

Unfortunately for Adam he was beaten on the night by David Bourke. After that it was goodnight nurse.

I don't know that he was ever going to make it, but I do think he suffered from not getting enough consecutive games. It was like they threw him in for 2-3 games, then dropped him when he didn't show the goods, then repeated the cycle... I don't think he ever got more than 2-3 games in a row? He struck me as the kind of player you needed to just persist with for 6-8 games and then make the judgement.

Being a Crows season ticket holder until 1997(pre Power) I found myself frustrated with alot of players at games. Such as Robbie Thompson, Alan Bartlett and Darren Smith, although none of them were ever useless. I get more upset when I see talent wasted through lack of effort. Maybe some of them just weren't mature enough at the time. For example, the two North boys Saliba and Mail, talent to burn but they would rather be out drinking or playing up. Another was Eddie Hocking(who I met on the weekend), he was very skillful but was another who lived life to the fullest off the ground and didn't make the most of it. I would rather see someone like Brayden Lyle, who wasn't the most naturally skilled player ever but would just bust a gut to get the most of out his career.

If only some of the others could have the same work ethic they probably would have played alot more.

Most Useless/Lucky - Aaron Keating 6 games 1 premiership.
No justice for Robbie Flower, Doug Hawkins or Bob Skilton.

One of the great tragedies IMHO. I remember reading about him once, that his girlfriend had just had a baby or somesuch, and thinking - there you go kid, you've got talent and an opportunity that most kids in your situation will never have, and you've blown it. Without knowing his background I can't help wondering if he needed better advice / role models around him.
