Mr Grant's progressive phantom draft

I'd be mortified if the dogs overlooked Scharenberg . Bloke that size who can play anywhere are very popular at draft time.
Have a look at the size of Freo's mids as an example

Lennon is nearly the same size (188cm) and I've been impressed with his work in the midfield in the TAC of late. He was copping a bit of attention yet still managed to play some fantastic games and he was doing it all over the park.

I've only seen Scharenberg play short stints in the midfield. While I think he has the tools to play through the midfield, there's no guarantee he will end up a midfielder. There's no guarantee Lennon will either, but I have more confidence that Lennon will develop into a midfielder more so then Scharenberg based on what I've seen.

I agree that Lennon is a real chance to go at 4. He is a different type of player to what the dogs have drafted recently & has that elite kicking ability that would complement the likes of Murphy, Griffen & Cooney.

I'm also a fan of Luke Dunstan from SA, he was starring for the Eagles seniors in the SANFL prior to getting injured & I reckon he could go top 10 without surprising. I think he will definitely go well before pick 20 anyway.

Cheers, I'll keep that in mind. I thought Kolodjashnij was the best player available so I thought I'd run with that. Sheed was considered, but I thought with Sidebottom (who I think he's a bit alike) you might go with someone a bit different.

Sheed from what I have seen is more damaging with the ball then Sidebottom imo, he also has a better 20m time then Steele.

It's an interesting one with Dunstan. I don't disagree he will go higher then pick 20, I see him going as high as pick 11. I just wasn't overly impressed by his kicking in the champs which is why I have him going a bit lower. Lacks damage. Plus I rate vision and awareness quite highly in inside midfielders. Dunstan has decent vision/awareness, but not elite. If vision/awareness is not in the elite bracket they need some pace which Dunstan doesn't have enough of. Players like Pendlebury, Black, Mitchelll etc lack pace, but have brilliant vision/awareness which what makes them great players to go along with their brilliant skills. This to me is why he won't go top 10. I can see him being a good player, but not a possible top liner (for those reasons mentioned) which is what I'd want with a top 10 pick.

I understand that, but the fact that Lennon is copping some attention, yet is still playing very well should count for a lot. If he was running around with no one on him I'd see things differently. His work rate/endurance has lifted which was the main knock on him after the champs.

Yeah I guess he's a bit more versatile and I agree he's faster. Could play off half back if required . Not sure I agree he's a bit more damaging, but I'll give it a bit more thought still.

Dustin Martin has left the Tigers if he goes into the draft which pick would he go at?

Well on talent GWS would find him hard to pass up as would Melbourne at pick 1 & 2. But his actions have shown of late that he's a pretty selfish individual and is not the most stable character off the field making a few clubs hesitant in picking him. I wouldn't have thought he would go past GWS' pick 9

I don't think the Blues will select a a key position player with our first pick (unless we manage to get #1 - Tom Boyd). Mick stated in his post match presser in Sydney that we need more run through the middle, and tbh we don't have many exciting young mids coming through. I can definitely see us using our first rounder on a midfielder.

My preferences would be: Freeman, Sheed, Dunstan or Salem.
