Murphy V Gibbs

Gibbs will be a better player. Uses the ball better, and is tall enough to play a variety of roles.

Last year i thought Murphy was always going to be the better player long term, but Gibbs has shown that he will just keep growing and growing in stature.

Agreed

Murphy will be a top 5 player at the club.

Gibbs will be a top 5 player in the league.

Looks like it...but I'd have Gibbs top 20 in the league with still much potential to take it a step further

Disposal efficiency is a bit of a furphy i reckon, especially when it comes to someone like Murphy. He is an excellent handballer, when he goes into packs and gets a handball it usually hits a target, that helps his efficiency.

But don't tell me Carlton supporters don't have their hearts in their mouths when he kicks it more then 40m, it could go anywhere.

Every other aspect of his game is superb, but his kicking is quite a fair bit below average.

His kicking is actually not that bad, the problem is he tries to do to much with the ball. He tries to pull of kicks that have to be centremeter pefect. And the fact he has alot of kicks in heavy traffic doesn't help much either.

Gibbs by a long long way.

Having watched Murphy so closely due to him being in my DT, he is so indecisive whenever he gets it.

As far as half back flankers go, Tom Murphy is slightly bigger, taller and quicker than Bryce Gibbs.
I would rate Murphy higher for his ability to lock down on opponents.

But Gibbs shows the poise of a champion. In a few years, as he increases his engine and muscle mass, he will be one of the good midfielders.

haha, very good :thumbsu:

Gibbs will be far superior i reckon. 'Shank' Murphy has claims on being the worst kick in the league, unless he can find a miracle cure to pathetic kicking disposal he will never be anything more than a good player who the opposition let get the ball because they know a turnover is coming up.

and yet better than any player on your old list mate. :p

Murphy is an arrogant little shit so on that basis i'll take Gibbs.

Buddy Franklin board pal!

On topic, answer is Gibbs. Murph will be a club champion but Gibbs could be absolutely anything. :D

I think most people would agree both guys will be very good players and last year although Gibbs did show signs of potential everyone would of taken Murphy in a heartbeat. However with the last couple of months especially that Gibbs has put together you would have to take Gibbs. This also depends on how consistent Murphy can get his foot disposal, for the record I think when Murphy is kicking well his foot skills into the F50 are easily one of the best in the carlton team up there with Judd and Stevens. It also should be mentioned that both Gibbs and Murphy play very different style of game which is great for carlton and im loving having them both in the navy blue.

Murphy was/is ready made ready for senior footy.

Gibbs was a bottom aged draftee who played 'ok' football as an 18 year old and is now developing fast.

Murhpy just doesn't have the physical gifts that Gibbs has, so Gibbs in a heartbeat.

Murphy sure makes up for it in application and grit though.

Murphy is going to be an excellent footballer and might be AA one day. But Gibbs just has alot more to work with, including far superior disposal.

The thing that really sets Gibbs apart is his awareness on the field - always has time, never flustered....you can't teach that. Murphy can seem a little rushed at times and does turn over the ball alot more

Gibbs is already the better player.

Having said that, Murph goes alright. :thumbsu:

In 5 years time, Kruezer could be better than the both of them though.
