My day... a running commentary

The German has German radio going over the net. It's Shanaia Twain's "I'm gonna get you good".

A vein throbs in my forehead.

Robbie Williams. Again.

"I don't want to die, but I ain't keen on livin' either". I empathise.

I realise that by adding a paragraph to my thesis I have completely destroyed the alignment of the rest of the chapter. I resist the urge to pound the desk with my fist.

The German leaves the office, leaving me with some boy band blaring in the background. This does not improve my mood.

My thesis chapter is still a mess. The German, now returned, increases the volume of the radio upon hearing some euro-techno-pop rubbish. I indentify the lyrics as French. I secretly believe they're saying "you'll never remove that gap from the bottom of page 180!!! Ha ha ha ha!!"

Vanessa Amorosi on German radio? I conclude there is no God.

The German news comes on. Not for the first time, I notice what an ugly language German is. The German tells me the news has reported there are many Italian cities currently without power. I save my thesis.

I finally fix up Chapter 3. I smile with smug satisfaction, and think about lunch.

Return from lunch. It's really hot outside, which seems to magnify what a hideous architectural nightmare the campus is. The thought runs through my head that this will be one of the last times I will see this place, so just for a change, I complain bitterly about how this place would never even exist in Australia. The German ignores me and says nothing.

I think about mentioning the war.

finally make decision to stop wasting valuable thesis time on bigfooty and knuckle down to some work.

Well yes it was Nicko, I didn't really understand it either, but I'm feeling terribly insecure about my moderating skills, so I thought I'd play it safe and delete it as an attack on a fellow poster.
