Hawthorn squad:

28 man squad.
Interesting mix of rookies and 1st year players. Should be interesting to see if XE gets a game?

Be good for them to get a hitout, may be the only chance to impress before the season starts, so might be good to get some young enthusiastic kids out there, who would probably take the game more seriously than if we just played the senior guys who would probably cruise through the game.

I'm very interested to see how Birchall goes if he gets a game.

I hope Kane, Little, Murphy, Ellis, Birchall, Bailey, Tuck, Gilham and Mcglynn play.

But I doubt they will throw all of these guys in. I wouldnt be suprised if half play this week and half of the youngsters play next week.

Your probably right but I expect Ellis will play both weeks as he will be on school holidays from Friday night for 2 weeks. Good chance to see how he goes without affecting his schooling.

It will be good to let all the new guys get a run.

lets face it, the game means absolutely nothing. No TV coverage, nothing to gain.
It wouldnt worry me if we got beaten by ten goals.
As long as all the senior players are rested Im happy.:thumbsu:

most of all i would like to see Little get a game, i think he needs one and Benny McGlynn have a run as well.

i won't expect much from this match just hope the kids can get a feel of afl pressure or close to it. would be good to win but doesnt resemble much importance for the season.

Any outcome that sees newcommers getting some good on-ball experience and sustaining no injuries is a suitable outcome as far as I'm concerned.

I'll be there to cheer them on, but I'm there to see some good skills and smart plays, not a win... though of course I wouldn't mind if it went that way.

Have any of you guys seen Tom murphy play??? i haven't heard much about him and would like to know if this year is going to be his big break out year?

Injured a fair bit of last year and struggled to catch up. Sounds a likely type, and will probably get some games this year, but he'll definately get at least another year to develop.

Pretty mobile type who can play tall, heard good raps from a number sources on him, but hasn't really had a chance to prove himself yet, but apparently has had a very solid pre-season.

For me, slight interest in seeing how big Patrick Ryder goes for the dums.

Just a few short months ago we were all debating the merits of Ryder, Clark, Kennedy as our 1st pick in the draft. (I was a Kennedy & Mitchell choice over Ryder.) so will be interesting to see how he goes, especially, if he gets a chance against our Big Bad Blue Max.
