Looks like I convinced you to go along following my thread about Cale Morton.

Good times :thumbsu:

Haha, not quite. Anyway, I usually work on the assumption that anything said in the Bay is strictly for trolling/lulz purposes and shouldn't be held against anyone on other boards:p

Morton has all the makings of a very good player, personally I wouldn't have minded whether we picked him, Masten or Palmer with pick 3 and I think they're all relatively even at this early stage.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of good youngsters on Sunday, including Scully, Trengove, Jurrah and hopefully Strauss from your side.

Yeah, fair call. It doesn't seem to go the other way with Spartan though, as one of my positive comments about WC on the polls board was used to ruin a sensational Eagles troll :p

In any case, I'd say your assessment of the three players is pretty fair, although I'd like to think Morton is slightly ahead at this point purely due to his versatility and durability.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the match on Sunday greatly as well, especially when you consider that you'll be one of the few who gets to see Scully and Trengove play their first games for the MFC live.

Looking forward to your in-depth review of the game on Monday :D

Nah it doesn't go the other way, there is no honour among thieves and trolls when in the Bay :D

Don't know about an indepth review, but will probably chime in with my two cents worth after the game.

I would of liked to see Tapscott out there...any1 know whats going on?

29 players named, so 3 to come out of that. I'd expect Fitzpatrick, Strauss and Bail to get the chop, leaving us with the following squad:

DEFENDERS: Warnock, Rivers, Frawley, Macdonald, Cheney, Bartram, Bennell, Bell
MIDFIELDERS: Moloney, Sylvia, Jones, McDonald, Green, Trengove, Morton, Davey, Grimes, McKenzie, Scully
RUCKS: Martin, Spencer
FORWARDS: Miller, Jurrah, Maric, Petterd, Jetta

Strauss will play i reckon. Cheney would be my guess to be cut instead. Seems like we have put out the strongest side we can given the injuries. If we lose well probably start rotating our older players from this round on.

Missed the intraclub due to being back in SA after the passing of a grandmother (I believe). But also has been on restricted training according to reports. Possible a hip injury, I'm not sure.

This is how I'd line them up:

FB: MacDonald Frawley Bennell
HB: Morton Rivers Strauss
C: Grimes Moloney Trengove
HF: Sylvia Jurrah Green
FF: Maric Miller Petterd
Foll: Spencer Jones Davey
Int: Martin, Scully, Warnock, McKenzie, McDonald, Jetta
Subs: Bartram, Cheney
Emer: Bell, Bail, Fitzpartrick

Jamar is a big out, but it gives Spencer and Martin a chance to show their stuff. Hopefully we are just being careful with the big russian and he will be right to go in round 1.

I'm looking foward to see McKenzie to could be a big supprise this year, I hear he has been training really well and is very keen to break into the side :thumbsu:

Was bored so threw together how the two teams might light up. My knowledge of Freo is laughable.

FB/FF:Rivers (Mayne) Warnock (Bradley) McDonald (Ballantyne)
HB/HF:MacDonald (Headland) Frawley (Pav) Bennell (Ibbotson)
C:Morton (McPhee) Moloney (Hasleby) Davey (Hill)
HF/HB:Green (Mundy) Miller (Grover) Sylvia (Duffield)
FF/FB:Maric (Hayden) Jurrah (McPharlin) Petterd (Broughton)
R:Martin (Sandi) Jones (Schammer) Grimes (Crowley)
I/C: Spencer (Clarke) Trengove (Morabito) Scully (Hinkley) McKenzie (Barlow) Cheney (Silvagni) Jetta (De Boer)
Subs:Bartram (Pearce) Bell (Van Berlo)
EMG: Bail (Murphy) Strauss (Roberton) Fitzpatrick (Johnson)

Our midfields and centre lines just about break even with the exception of Sandi vs Martin, Sandi could be the difference in this game.

Frawley will have his work cut out for him to contain Pav but at the same time I don't know who's gonna contain Jurrah.

I hope Duffield does line up on Sylvia, both are attacking players who are unliking to play a close checking game and I back Sylvia to be more damaging.

Bennell and MacDonald will have to be on their game to match Mundy and Duffield in attack from defence.

Our bench is a fair bit stronger, that depth through out the game may be what swings the game into our favour.

Petterd to play a negating role against Broughton who can rack up the stats if left alone. Or maybe he should play on Duffield....or Mundy. Don't know who is the most dangerous out of those three.

CC - Good write up there. But I'm pretty sure Strauss will play as he was in the starting team in some simulated match practice the other day at training.

I think Freo will win due to the home ground advantage. Whilst I think we should expect to travel and play well I believe Freo should be pretty at home and will be better at the game style on their home ground. Our team does feature some regulars but a lot of them won't have played much footy together. That combined with Sandilands in the ruck, and Pavlich probably being a class above others on the ground (even though he should be contained by our defence he is still a class player) will most likely get them over the line.

The difference between this game and last time we played Freo and smashed them was that last time it was a wet Melbourne MCG day and we were 3 times harder at the ball than them. They were insipid. I can't see them doing that again.

We should be competitive i am looking forward to seeing jurrah, trengove, scully, morabito get a run. go Demons !:thumbsu:

decent side not sure if they can beat Freo with Pavlich & Sandilands playing. Good test for Martin & Spencer.

interested in seeing how Macdonald goes as well as Trengove, Scully & Strauss (hopefully).

I would expect Strauss and Bail to play actually. I think It could be 2 of Bell, Cheney or Jetta to miss out along with the Fitz.

(Freo side came off their board)

The backline looks pretty good. We are basically at full strength. The key will be Frawley must bring his A-game, but he hasn’t let us down yet so I’m confident he can get the job done. I expect Rivers to play loose and try to spoil Pav when he is inside forward 50.

Midfields look pretty even I can’t see any major miss matches. I hope Hill and Trengove go head to head. Hill will have the pace, but if left un checked Trengove could damage Freo on the score board. Spencer vs. Sandy is going to end in an almighty flogging. Maybe we will play Fitz and try to rotate martin and the Fitz through the ruck and forward line in an attempt to maybe wear the big fella down.

Looking at our forward line v. their backline and I think we could almost have the edge. Interesting if Silvagni is there no. 1 full back, at stages last year he was playing VFL reserves footy. Jurrah also played well last time kicking 4 and I get the feeling that with the extra room and his first pre-season we could see his first real bag.

In the end however given they are basically at full strength and that it’s at Subi they should probably beat us. Looking at each of the lines it’s not looking to bad but it will be a matter of how our young bodies fair against Freo’s more experienced players.

Actually looking forward to seeing Fitzpatrick have a run as I'm not sure what to expect. Bailey said that he has earned a crack which is consistent with his earlier statements how all new recruits will have to earn a go.

Will be interesting if we play our three big men in Fitzy, the hairdresser, and Spencer. Perhaps Dean will use Spence in a forward role after his 2 goal haul at the intraclub?:D

Personally i think Fitz will flounder a bit and he is being played too early. but its only a nab cup game so whatever.

P.S how awesome will it be when big Maxy Gawn lines up on Sandilands... I predict this occurrence will coincide with the apocalypse:eek:

Pavlich is unlikely to play a big role. Has had a calf cork and been on restricted duties for several weeks. He didn't compete in the intraclub match and may be used as a 'super' sub on the weekend.

I don't foresee him really pushing himself to crack open the game. He'll probably be kept pretty quiet. This time last year Mitch Brown from the Eagles gave him a touch up in the preseason cup.

Also for interests sake, who do you think is missing from your best lineup?

We have 3 definites in Tarrant, Palmer and Suban.

Cam Bruce, Matty Bate, Mark Jamar and probably Austin Wonaeamirri would all be in our best line up and are not playing tommorrow. Would love to see Jack Watts out there aswel but doubt he'll play any nab cup games. Whats the go with Rhys Palmer? I had him in my supercoach but am thinking i might switch him with Stephen Hill. Do you reckon he'll reach his 2008 form this year?

Garland would also be in our best line-up.

Im an avid Fremantle supporter and i'm avoiding Palmer in both Super coach and Dream team. He is a big risk who hasn't had any match practice who won't be ready til round 4 or 5.

If he burns it up over his first 2 games, you can trade him in round 7 or 8.

Its funny how the Melbourne team is reported to be severely undermanned but im just not seeing it. You've brought across nearly your A team midfield.

I'm expecting a pretty close contest tomorrow.
