I just want to see what everyone would like to see out of us for the NAB cup.

With the news of Scarlett and Egan out of the backline for our first match against the Cats i think we're in with a decent chance.

Anyway, would you prefer to see us win or develop the youngsters and blood new draftees? The impression i get from the Dean is he'll want both to go hand in hand.

I have mixed feelings for the NAB cup as i obviously want to see us win, but the more games we play the more i get paranoid that one or more of our players will suffer an injury derailing the start of the premiership season.

They're going to be playing games regardless, so I'm not too worried about injuries.

I would like us to win it because of the cashola that it brings, but I'm also a firm believer in the fact that with winning it brings the omen of a bad premiership season.

I'm not too fussed. Would like to see some youngins blooded though, god knows we're gonna need them.

Can't wait for the real thing.

Can I vote all three?

If we do win the pre-season (one day..) can we treat it like it is and say "well that was nice, on with the real season" instead of spazzing out like it's the greatest thing that's ever happened and getting commemorative t-shirts.

I would like them to pick the best 22 avaliable and with the additional spots on the bench play the youngsters who have the spot during the pre season. Play them cos they have earned the right to play not becasue they got drafted in the top 10 etc.

Give a game to the blokes who deserve it.

I want all 3! I do think the pre-season comp should be used to test the metal of the new crop of players to get an idea (in match conditions) who might be able to accelerate their development immediately to add another cog to the 2008 Demon wheel. Go Dees!

I think that blooding some young blokes is deffinantly the way to go. Getting player like Garland, Warnock and the a couple of the new draftees a bash. Obviously Bailey kept Warnock for some reason. Ath the end of last year alot of people (including myself) we calling for him to be cut, hopefully Bailey can get him to to pull his finger out.

Oh yeah, always go for the win, even if it isn't for premiership points we need to get a winning culture back to the club.

Each year there are some certainties in life I look forward to. For example, my birthday and ANOTHER PAUL WHEATLEY SUPAGOOOAAAAAALLLL!!!!

I'm as eager as the next person to see the kids get a run given the apparent talent we've picked up, I mean it's been widely suggested we did incredibly well this most recent draft so who wouldn't want to see the kids make a mark. That said, needs to be in moderation and the older blokes need to have a run, but we'll see what happens.

Personally, I don't care if we win or lose as there's always scratch matches if we bomb out. As long as the boys are prepared for Hawthorn, that's all that matters

Agree with Mick, its a good test of the young blokes and a great indication of who we can fast track and expect an impact from immediately.
It won't always work out that way but do you remember Davey in the preseason comp? Was obvious he was ready to play that year and gave the coach something to think about.

Last year our performances in the NAB cup were pretty woefull. We got smashed by the Hawks/Buddy show, then in Adelaide think we got torn a new one aswell. The only side we beat by recollection was the tiges.

Does anyone know how much money you get if u win the hwole thing

somebody correct me if im wrong, but i heard it was a cool mil this year?

...could come in handy if correct

I thought you only got the million if you won both the pre-season and the premiership in the same year? I could be wrong though because I was wrong once before back in 1969 :D

Apart from not having to travel around the country side, winning a few pre-season games wouldn't hurt the old membership figure but apart from those two factors I'm not too fussed.

I think with the extended bench we can play plenty of youngsters but still give some of the older blokes a run......I think it is good to give the young guys ago just to give them a taste. And the coaches can point out some things they need to work on in the VFL....Or they could do what Bartram did and go on and play all 22 games:D

I think it is important to get some early wins on the board, even though recent history has proven that the NAB Cup winners don't necessarily have good seasons.

Last year, the only team we beat in the whole pre-season was Richmond, and we went on to lose the opening 9 games. So this year, we need to have a good start so that we are confident by Round 1. This doesn't mean playng our absolute best 22, but as a supporter I'll be a bit disappointed if we don't get at least two wins (out of the four weeks).
