Hearing is has nothing to do with folding, relocating, moving to reserves, or ownership. But will have major effects on teams 2017/18 season.
I predict that the Makos will fold, relocate, move to the Ressies or change ownership.

As per reports, the Wellington Makos do have a few announcements to make tonight.

The first is that due to the announcements that are to come our kit submission to the competition has been withdrawn to allow for major changes to be made.

The second announcement is the first of the changes that will be happening to our kits this season;

Even though we previously stated that the McLaren Speedy Kiwi logo will feature on all of our kits this season, this will no longer be the case. The Makos organisation have decided to replace the logo with a symbol that will represent our club as well as linking us to the other clubs that are tied to our brand. This logo can be seen below. When used, the two elements are able to be recoloured to fit their purpose, and in most cases each element will be coloured differently.

We know that this may be seen as just copying other clubs in this competition, but the W in this logo has featured in the past on the Wellington Makos AFC kits and will be again featured in our kits for the next FLO season, and the extension to the design by adding the M links the football team with the NAFL team even further. This logo will not feature as a major design element on any of our kits this season.

Further announcements in regards to the Makos kit designs for this season will be made in the next few hours.

The next announcement that the Wellington Makos wish to make is that after one season SkyCity has decided to end their partnership with the club. SkyCity were to sponsor us for the 2017/18 season but through mutual agreement it was decided that they would cut short their time with us. During their short time with the club SkyCity were proven to be fantastic partners, not only being our front of guernsey sponsor but also giving our fans many opportunities including once in a lifetime and money can't buy prizes through competitions and giveaways.

We at the Makos organisation wish to thank SkyCity for their time as our partners.

Following the loss of SkyCity as a partner to the Wellington Makos we have quickly been able to secure a new partner for our front of our guernsey sponsorship for the upcoming season;

Speight's is part of the Lion brand which has been a major part of the NAFL in recent years with their partnerships with the Waikato Tigers (Steinlager) and the Perth Boomers (Emu Export). They come on board for the 2017/18 season as the front of guernsey sponsor for 4 of our 5 kits and have been happy to give up the 5th guernsey's sponsors position to allow Etihad Airways to move to the front and allow our charity partner to take the back of guernsey position on our alternate kit.

The Wellington Makos welcome Speight's to the club and we hope this partnership will continue for a long period into the future.

Our final and most important announcement will be made shortly.

midnight comes early.

The final announcement that the Wellington Makos wish to make is in relation to the designs and colours of our kits for the 2017/18 NAFL season.

Following the decision to change the Speedy Kiwi to the new monogram logo along with the departure of SkyCity and new partnership with Speight's, the club needed to have new kits produced so that we did not need to have logos heat pressed over the top of former logos.

At the same time as these other changes were taking place, the Makos organisation was in the process of working with kit manufacturers Puma on initial prototype designs for the 2018/19 season.

Having seen what Puma had produced in these prototypes, the Makos organisation felt that these designs represented our brand far more than the designs that we had currently been working with. Through discussions with focus groups made up of long term Makos members the club has decided to advance the process of switching to our new Midnight, white and light teal colour scheme and have commissioned Puma to produce these new kits for the 2017/18 season.

These new kits will replace the current home, away and location designs, with our alternate and heritage remaining almost exactly the same in design with some minor changes being made to fit the new Puma design scheme and the changes to sponsor and logos that have also occurred.

As these changes are being made we will be releasing the former designs (home, away and location) to the public in the coming weeks through the NAFL Jumpers That Never Were resource.

Due to this change and the subsequent delay in production, the new guernseys will be made available for sale to Makos fans shortly after the season commences.

We look forward to all Wellington Makos and NAFL fans seeing these new designs.

Go Makos!!!
