Positive: he didn't do it in the preseason , meaning he has the whole preeason to recover.
Exactly. If it's true that an ACL is just a matter of time once the weakness is there, then perhaps it might have happened in Feb next year. Then we'd truly be boned.

This way he'll be available for finals 2017 and the players will be working their ass off to get into the best possible position for his return

I'm struggling to take anything you say seriously with that avatar

My thinking Has changed overnight ...lol ....it's common

Build a midfield that does t rely on a dominant ruckman

Build a midfield like Sydney's which is match hardened and not overly quick either

It reads the ball well

Play Giles and Lycett at home ...on the road go Lycett and McInnes

Rookie draft a WAFL ruckman but don't go big spending on a second ruckman. Develop redden sheed Duggan, Nelson ....karpany and others ...build the midfield so we don't rely on Nic Nat when he comes back

The Hawks won three flags with Mostly fairly average rucks .....we can do the same

He won't be back next year. Play him round 1 against Dockers at the new stadium.

No

You'd wa to to see him tested late in 2017 ....of he re-injuries it then we need to go after a another ruck,

I say go with what we've got for 2017 and maybe a pre season draft pick on a WAFL or SANFL RUCK

build the midfield so it's less reliant on Nic Nat

I actually think our midfield improved without Nic Nat ....yes it was against some average teams but we beat GWS and Hawks with that improved midfield hardness when Nic came back

God that is some BS if I've ever read it! According to you no one should ever play a game for the Eagles again! As some one that's done an ACL, it had nothing to do with anything else!! What I just read has nothing to do with an acl and everyone is dumber for reading that crap

Look its up to you how much dumber you want to get by reading an opinion thats different to yours, personally I felt it was a bit suss he had achilles issues and the solution was to snip some other tendons in his leg leading to Simpson declaring that he could now miraculously jump "even higher."

Personally I suspected that if you do an operation that removes ligaments from your lower leg then come back sooner than expected then play in games that have finals like intensity then your ACL goes there might be some element of cause and effect at play.
I'm a lazy person by nature and was content with my unsubstantiated suspicions but since you challenged it I've done a little digging and remain far from convinced plataris surgery [what I understand Nic to have had] is completely isolated from ACL injuries. These are 2 ligaments in the same part of the body working in unison, if you sever one the impact on the other can not be considered to be 0% so gagf.

"Later, Helms et al. examined the MR images of fifteen patients with sports-related injuries to the lower leg.9 The plantaris muscle and tendon, as well as the surrounding structures, were retrospectively examined for abnormalities. In all fifteen patients, evidence of rupture or strain of the plantaris muscle was present. An associated torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was found in 10 of 15 patients."

Like I said before I'm not a Dr but within 5 minutes on google I found medical literature tying the 2 things together in a way that at the very least suggests there wasn't 0 risk. So unless you are yourself an expert in the field not just some bloke who's done his ACL one time I'm satisfied your opinion is no more valuable than mine.

Seems NicNat's surgery could be difficult with the size of Nic s leg , ie i think is the tendon needed to be used big enough etc ...anyway good luck to NicNat he has been brilliant for West Coast and I hope he returns as good as ever .

any chance of lars?

or has that gone out of favour

Petty much, yeah

I'm not so sure that he will definitely miss ALL of 2017, but obviously a lot will depend on how badly the ligament has been damaged and the initial surgery/any complications etc.

I sincerely hope that WCE leave no stone unturned and spare no expense in getting Nic right, so important clearly. I think from memory Adelaide sent Tex over to the U.S. during his rehab, maybe something similar for Nic, if it helps. He may even get to catch some NBA whilst there too hehe :)

Still gutted and saddened, just not fair :'(

Actually Gardiner had some really good games when he moved to St Kilda - carried their ruck for some time from memory and St Kilda were going very well at that time.

Both Worsfold and Mainwaring did their knees in the twilight of their careers.

Le Cras had other injuries upon returning (arm) which probably hindered him, but I think he has gone okay. It's just that Simmo played him more in the midfield rather than purely as a forward. As much as Le Cras has been inconsistent this year probably due to losing a yard in pace, he went alright in 2015.

Mitch Brown was unfortunate to do his knee again so we didn't get a real good look at him when he came back from doing it the first time.

Jako was used more as a forward when he returned - probably was not as agile but still played okay until such time he realised that he had had enough.

Every player is different so I say let's wait and see - no need at this stage for all the negativity. With some players it's in the genes (eg Morabito). The most important thing is that the operation is performed by a top Neurosurgeon whether that be here in Perth or over east. I think Nic's leap will be a matter of confidence.

Mitch Brown was never particularly very good either. Like, there wasn't lofty heights to fall from.

If he has done an ACL then I'll give up footy for a year.
Well... Your in my boat then...

I have watched crap all footy this year with fyfe being out injured... coincidence? I think not.

Might explain why you keep making shit up then

Ironic the same knee he used to knee sandilands in the back to give cause him a removed rib and collasped lung is the same knee he tore and is out for 18 months....

Only reason he would have got a rib removed was for personal reasons ;)
