did chuckle reading Zita's thread on the hearing Hawks KC using 'native sport' as an argument. This isn't some tourist whose rushed through a stop sign and claims bad English as the reason. Come on now.

3 weeks. high, careless, severe.

he is swinging for the ball but just misses it. similar to scrimshaw earlier in the year

smith should also get 1-2 weeks. intentional, high, low-med impact.... but will probably get nothing. if he threw then ball the only a fine. but it was a strike cos he never released the ball.

please. Does Impey get a fine for staging. He got hit by soft leather filled with air? Crazy. 1-2 weeks, LOL!

four weeks seems fair.

Would love to hear all of the five week + advocates reaction to this and why they got it wrong/the AFL was never arguing for that?

Was never going to be more than 5 and that was if he was ultra unlucky. 4 just seems “right”. Was worse than the Freo guy as it’s taken Miers out for two weeks, so two on top of that seems appropriate without being OTT.

Anyone else think its flavour of the month, week , day , hour , moment with suspensions.

Seen worse this season get nothing

Not really seems on par with the last two seasons. You knock someone out you cop 3 at a minimum they are out for 13 days remember

Big Vic Discount strikes again.

6 weeks
- 2 weeks for a Victorian club
Punishment victorian player receives

It was never going to be 6 weeks it wasn’t good okay but let’s calm down with calling it a dog act or whatever. Yes the red card system should be in for these cases but it was an extremely clumsy act from a very fair player

Who called it a dog act LP.

If Voss's suspension is 3, the fact that this is 4 is stupefying, this should have been 6.

4 weeks about right. But 5-6 if they are fair dinkum in governing out this type of head contact.

He wasn't tackling, and too forceful to be a spoil. So only leaves him trying to put physical contact on Miers.

Nash should have just waited until Gryan was leaving the game and beat the piss out of him in the car park, same suspension length

If you hypothetically do agree with everything I'm saying re: a strike then its a strike and abides by that AFL matrix for striking, so should be a week.

This is exactly where the AFL are murky on these situations and the problem I have with it. Smith grabbing a ball and striking Impey in the head with it is absolutely a striking action, the fact the football is there should be irrelevant. A football being used should not absolve the action from what it was, which was a strike, albeit a very low impact one.
Respectfully, it doesn't appear that you read what I said. A strike with an open palm has never resulted in a week. Even if it is to the face. The worst he would have got would have been a fine - either way, with whatever classification they gave it. The impact is negligible, and it was an open palm not a closed fist. There's no eventuality where it ends up being a week.

I'm going to leave it there, because we've clearly reached an impasse.

4 is spot on it’s 1 more than Voss. No need to go OTT which is what 5+ would be or worse 6, come off it that’s for Gaff type of hits

From this stance I actually agree- but I don't think the AFL takes concussions seriously either form a punitive or a rehabilitation perspective and until they make some legislative changes this is a an easy four-gamer.

Nah. A month is about right for mine.
I don't think there was any malice in the incident, he just got it badly wrong.

Yep. Just a badly timed incident nothing more or less a month is right.

The guilty is right. I guess thd sentence is on the lighter end because it's a first offence.

If this was Maynard he'd rightly get 6-8, belted lots of blokes.
