He wants to play AFL and has been linked to Collingwood. Rumours are he was seen talking to Geoff Walsh and may be training with us when we come back.

With Didak and Davis playing predominantly midfield, our forward line looked weak this year.

Brown is the master of spotting up a target inside 50. He is so damaging by foot. He would be great for Jack and Trav Cloke.

he would also allow Didak and Davis to spend more time in the middle.

OK, he is old.

But surely a player of his calibre is worth the punt for 2 years.

Go for it Pies. How could you stop Didak, Davis, Brown, Medhurst and Thomas every week?

I agree that our forward line was our biggest weakness this year and the club needs to address that and get it working before next year, but is Nathan Brown really the answer? I don't think so. Though he might be a nice pick up for depth.

I reckon he really suffered from Matty Richardson moving into the midfield.

he used to crumb off him so beautifully, and in turn set him up with a lot.

The genius Terry Wallace decided to move Richo onto the wing, and put Brown across half back. Yes Terry, good move.

Brown would only have to poo-jab 2 goals a game. No need to play midfield. Stay at the feet of a forward.

His footskills would bring Anthony into it as well as Jack is at his best on a lead as opposed to a marking contest.

So what he is 32?? The Doggies took a punt on Hall...why wouldn't we with Brown?? We are top 4 for christ-sake...yet it seems we are more interested in building for 3 years away.

We are so close, just a few quality players off. Why not go for it?? We've made finals so many years straight. Why rebuild when we are top 4??

Agreed, which is why we need to stay well away from Nathan Brown.

Has zero passion for the game, only plays for himself, doesn't do any of the team things...

Our team needs hardness, not more marshmallows.

Fair points, and they would all be top of the list for the 'Against' column.

But at his best, Brown was a terrific team man. He was right up there for assists...one of the best assist players going around.

You'd think the fact he has been delisted and is now struggling to even find a home may make him realise how lucky he is to be on an AFL list. The fact he is close to retirement may make him play that bit harder knowing there is little time left,

He has missed so much footy in his career, so the fire must still burn. To come back from that horrific injury shows he is passionate abotu football. If that were me I would've retired on the spot.

he is generally pretty fit. Had some niggles in 09 which he got over but was not given opportunity after that.

Id prefer to give the young guys a chance. Who would be taken out of the side to allow for him?

Probably Lockyer. Think we should keep an indigenous forward up there which is Brad Dick. May be a battle between Lockyer, Macaffer, Medhurst and Brown for 2 spots.

One of my fave players b4 he got injured. Was a star.
Im not against it.
he hasnt been the same player since that injur though

Has been slower, softer, lazier, kicked less goals, got less possessions, been less team orientated

Quite a few things to get right before being drafted let alone played

give me caff and Medhurst every day of the week, tarks is also a better link man currently

I think it would be a step backwards for the club, for him to get a place in the team he would have to squeeze out Brad Dick, which would be similar to the way Leigh Brown managed to squeeze out Cam Wood at the start of the year and Nathan Brown towards the end of it. The last thing we want is for him to be potentially getting games while Dick is stuck in the reserves...

Also having read posts on the Richmond board Nathan apparently routinely intimidated the younger players on their list along with another player who was recently delisted... That is only second hand info from the richmond board but if its true that is the last character trait you would want from any player on your list...

you make good points there but you can also say Richmond were woeful and coming back from a severe injury like that and being killed by your midfield isnt going to help you and wont help with motivation knowing the team stinks.
I remember this year down at Skilled Park he tore the game apart and almost won Richmond the game against Geelong. It has to be mindset. Possibly a new environment and a chance for a flag could rejuvenate him?

Possibly and i did forget about that match at skilled in round 2

I suppose if he is training with us we will know best about his commitment and injury issues

We'll have to wait and see, currently im sitting at no but could he be worse then cook or corrie?

Other than the fact he is a stuck up arrogant w***er that is past his best I cannot see why not
arrogance and being a w***er isnt really an issue

He has much bigger issues before that anyway

I would have thought Russell Robertson would be a better pickup, more of a permanent forward then Brown, and his injury wasn't as bad as Brown's.

I hope we don't pick up either really, but If we had to, I'd go with Robbo.

Brown is a crumber, robbo a leading full forward

Im not entirely convinced we need either but probably brown fills our needs better

He is an interesting one.

Obviously it seems footy is a young mans game nowadays with no one willing to consider the over 30 types.

He is a quality player though IMO. Richmond were mad to delist him but hang onto spuds like Simmonds. He is also far better than any of their youth with the exception of Cotchin and Deledio.

I would entertain him in the PSD.

Can easily turn a game with a few touches. I also think with our quality across the park and multiple options up forward he could thrive and kick his 30-40 goals for the year.

I'll leave this call to the football department.
