Gillo94 said some stupid things, people made fun of him for saying stupid things, he got defensive and said even stupider things, and then all the monkeys started flinging shit everywhere and Armitage2Riewoldt had to come in and clean the place up.
Where's Karl? o_O

We even had Collingwood come to defend our honour against the Carlton attack

Surely someone can have an opinion on something on the forum, without being called names and called a troll.
Freeman has played a couple of games in 3years, I can understand why some think that the trade is a bust.
This. I'm not buying into the hype and setting myself up for disappointment like everyone else. Even pre-draft all he really had was exceptional clearance work and speed from stoppages. Take that away due to his hamstring issues and he doesn't have too many ground breaking traits left. He's never been a big time accumulator from memory. Was always touted as a mid first round pick, but I still believe Collingwood reached for him.

As with my slight criticisms on many Saints player (I often take the pessimistic point of view in the hopes that they do achieve greater than my expectations so I'm not let down) I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

His contract is also pretty bad. That can't be argued. Risk vs reward I guess. But that's a lot of coin that could have gone towards a sure thing.

I liken him more to Matt White than Judd or Dangerfield anyhow.

I'd wager that we're still only paying the bare minimum of TPP, hence the large warchest we have.

It's not even possible, it's reality. We really are in the best position salary cap wise probably in the league.

My point was, front loaded or not, we are overpaying Freeman simple as that. I understand to get quality young players with a world of potential you need to lash out. It's still money that could have been put towards a safer contract.

It could be worse though. We could be WB with Boyd. They saved our asses there.

What's a safer contract?

If we had got Boyd it would have been a contract about $300-400K p.a less than the Dogs & we would be able to develop without the ludicrous pressure that a $7million deal brings. We wouldn't have Paddy though, which would make me sad.

It was what like $300k a year for 3 years? Wouldn't make the slightest difference to the club I wouldn't think.

For examaple a safer contract would have been putting that 300-400k extra above Josh Kelly's market price. Which is already probably 500k a season. I would have happily offered 900k+ to a sure thing like Kelly over Freeman. But it's just hypotheticals at this stage.

I heard reports of 400+, could be wrong. You guys just think 'it's only 300k' but that's the difference in price between getting a good midfielder and an elite midfielder.

If we still have over a million to spend in the cap how is it stopping us from doing anything?
It's not. But it's still money we are spending on Freeman that could have gone towards a more sure thing talent with less question marks over their head. How is what I'm saying so difficult to comprehend?

I get it. We all want Freeman to be a gun for us, obviously. I just don't see how you guys thinking spending 300k+++ on not only a guy who hasn't played senior football but hadn't played even a game in 2 years is a good thing? That's a lot of money for nothing.

For comparative purposes, that's someone like Robertons salary. And the difference between getting someone like Sidebottom or someone like Dustin Martin.

Saying 300k is nothing and happily pissing it away each year in the salary cap leaves a dint.

If Freeman works out I'll be more than happy. In saying that, even if he does get over his hamstring issues, which is a big if since it seems to be someone form of genetics problem, I still don't think he turns out the player that everyone is expecting him to be. But that's just my thoughts after watching him from his junior days. Again, would love for him to prove me wrong!!!
