What would be your reasoning behind the exploratory surgery TRS??
Can you shed any more light on it for us please??
I don't know enough of the specifics, but probably best case scenario there's nothing wrong with the tendon attachment or the musculotendinous junction, and maybe he's having some issues with tethering caused by scar tissue. Most likely he has pain or soreness that can't be fully explained or resolved and they're looking for a cause.

You obviously edited the post where you said it but Ketchup quoted your original post in post #25.

You said -- "You could tell watching him in the VFL something wasn't right, his hammy wasn't right since round 1 and I guess they hoped it would get better... 5 games later and here we are."

You clearly said that you could tell something wasn't right and that his hammy wasn't right since round 1.

I await your apology but then again I have "no clue".

I obviously need to spell this out to you because you aren't exactly acting like the sharpest tool in the shed. Yes, I said he didn't look right in the VFL, he looked like he lacked confidence in his body. At no point did I ever "pick up his hammy problems in his 1st VFL game", you merely got this confused when I said his hammy wasn't right since round 1... which in a point made in hindsight when you realize the facts that he has been holding back from sprinting since round 1 and how is having hamstring surgery.. you don't need to be a genius to put 2 and 2 together and get 4.

So if you can understand all that you will see that yes, you have no clue. Get it?

So basically, he is experiencing some pain, discomfort and/or soreness and they are looking for what is causing.

That's what I first though when I heard the Injury Report.

Thanks Dr TRS.

The same bloke who doesn't rate Moore or De Goey?:drunk:

and Love McKenzie:confused:

I'd wait a few weeks before judging this one, it was clear he couldn't go flat out at VFL level so this may in fact be the best course of action, especially long term.

My Problem is that will this be a 1-Off or something that will bother him rest of his Career

What?? He had a sore glute and will be back this week.
You don't think gluteal soreness can be related to a hip problem which required surgery in the offseason... why exactly?

Bottom two teams are the Brions and Blose. Cheer up.

Someone please put a permanent watch on JDG. 3 of our 4 top 10 picks have gone down with injury. We need to ensure DeGoo stays safe

Just deflated mate.

We really need our top 10 draft picks to be stars.

Maybe the surgeon could just remove his quads and calves and have them surgically implanted into Ben Reid. If we could get one usable player out of the two of them that wouldn't be so bad...
Nathan Reid or Ben Freeman?

Mate I would MUCH rather he has pulled his hammy again rather than have inflammation around the tendon 12 months post OP
I wouldn't. It could be something simple like scar tissue build up, which can be cleaned out easily enough.

Another proper hamstring tear could be an indicator of ongoing problems throughout his career, Rioli style.

Have you ever played football? You get soreness in all sorts of random areas. Do we even know it wasn't a contact injury?

Perhaps you're right and it's something minor, but his inability to generate pace 12 months after his tendon operation has me worried.

Especially when it's the key cornerstone of his game.

OK, we now have two Freeman threads running: this one and the new one on his injury/surgery.

Will merge the two threads and change the thread title.

FYI THATSGOLD and PepperFace

Yes I have, and I wouldn't be paying my medical staff to write off gluteal pain in a player with recent hip surgery as "random" before using some clinical reasoning.

This might sound silly but when I heard this I was a little happy because what I saw of freeman in the vfl made me doubt him a bit. Don't get me wrong the last thing I want is to have him injured, but it made me think that it this was holding him back the last few weeks

This is really annoying. TBH I really wanted Sheed at that pick but we probably had some agreement with WC??

There is a thing or two you need to learn about the Royal Sampler before you ridicule his medical knowledge! Do your research.

I see that Young is now listed at 1-2 weeks.

Thought he only had hamstring tightness:confused:

Not like I care and want him playing in the AFL side anyways.

I wasn't expecting Young to get a game for us again unless we have massive injury issues, even more so than now

Feel sorry for Nathan. Was looking forward to him playing. The thing I remember from his 1 qtr of NAB cup footy last year was his speed. Exactly what we need someone like him sprinting away from a stoppage

I wouldn't be too concerned yet. If the surgery finds something and they can rectify it then that's a definite positive long-term.

Let's hope they find the issue and that it's fixable. Then he can hit the track hard and be good to debut in the second half of the season.
