If Davoren lasts past tomorrow, we have confirmation, mediocrity is accepted and embraced by Eddie and his board. What a long way we have fallen.

I'd be very surprised and shocked if he isn't shown the door after the year is done.

Didn't he say something like our hamstring injuries are behind us at that meeting late last year. Yeah they sure are.

The club was like, Bill you aren't a doctor, stop dealing with these injured players. He wouldn't listen. They said, Bill you aren't qualified to do hamstring surgery, but again, he wouldn't listen. Must be sacked.

You need to read the thread mate.
Plenty have wanted Freeman cut, or have questioned his recruitment in the first place.
Many of those are now in the "I told you so" camp.
I'm under no illusions about my "side by side". I'll blast a player/coach or
President/support staffer when I think they've been given ample opportunity to perform and have not. Or their performance has dipped below an acceptable level.
But I'm not going to slam a player while he is in a run of bad physical luck.
Welcome to the world of AFL.

"I'll blast a player/coach or President/support staffer when I think they've been given ample opportunity to perform and have not. Or their performance has dipped below an acceptable level." .... bugger me, who died and made you god ??

Don't see how someone can be that unlucky with just hamstring injuries, Either his body is just one of those that can't cope with AFL demands, the coaches/trainers are pushing him too hard, or we aren't diagnosing the problem probably. He can't get this many hamstring injuries problems at 19 years old without something wrong. At least scharenburg has only really had two set backs both of which were completely different injuries which can be just bad luck.

Drafted pick 10. 2013.
Which round will this happen?
Will be make it?
So much talk in the off season that he was killing it. Now he seems further away from a debut. What's going on with him?

The kid is 19, just getting over a mega hamstring injury and he's struggling a bit....hardly surprising...cut the guy some slack...

At last count he had one(1) hamstring injury....granted it was a serious one...I don't think he's quite ready to be put down yet

Depressing statistic:

From the 2013 draft only 2 players from the top 30 have not played. Both are Collingwood players :(

The problem is that some posters think this is some sort of computer game. Where the futures of players can be decided upon with the click of a mouse. They don't consider the multitude of factors that infuence performance and injury. They also don't seem to have any concept of time, and the very real chance that Freeman will recover and go on to have an excellent career at Collingwood.

If it was a late pick there wouldnt be so much angst, but the fact we had 2 picks in the top 10 yet to play makes it that more frustrating.
Fingers crossed all turns out well

It wasn't one last year. It was multiple set backs.

I didn't say we get rid of him. Just that his future is looking bad. Having too many soft tissue injuries creates a weakness in that area which is likely to cause more problems. He might be fine but it has to be concerning.

He may be ok, as some people have pointed out examples of players that came through this. But for every Wirrpunda there is a Gumbleton. Which one have we got? Not sure how some people would not be worried by this.

Shitful luck for a very decent kid, here's hoping we can get to the bottom of the problem this time around.

It okay to be concerned, but the over-the-top 'he is doomed, 'our staff or all incompetent', is taking that concern way too far. It is an immature response.

It is frustrating. I have seen some guns in the past few years that have made an impact for clubs and we have had a couple that are yet to debut. Collingwood had been praised for having so many top 10-20 picks in the last few years but a couple of our biggest ones are yet to debut. I really hope the wait is worth it and they make a speedy recovery. It's just frustrating to have this wait. Moore has had one set back, though I hope this is the only one for now and he gets a good run for the rest of the year with no set backs.
No point in getting all these high draft picks if they are unable to develop even if it's at VFL level. Good luck for them and I hope they get back sooner rather than later and we can see what they're all about.

Didn't he aggravate it again late last year? So he had the surgery came back and then did something which meant he sat out the rest of the year.

Let's hope they fix it this time.

Bucks had surgery on his hammy after R1 2005 (he said he knew he was in trouble when he couldn't outrun Luke Darcy) and they found it was hanging on by scar tissue. So they re-attached and then he came back and had a decent end to 05-06. It flared again in 07 but in fairness he was pushing 35 at that time

But if it's as simple as he can't get up to the same speed. This should of been noted before games are being played. Im all for the surgery if it gets him playing better and he needs it. Something just doesn't sit right with me. Probably just reading too much into it however.

It seems convenient I agree, but I'm buying it. This kid was the second fastest time over 20m in his draft year (behind Marsh) and has one of the best repeat sprint times of all time, yet you wouldn't know it watching this year. He finished the game on Saturday and looked fine singing the song, no ice or anything, but could only manage 7 touches for the match. He's probably felt something wasn't right for a while, and being told by the doctors but he's had the surgery so it should be fine, so it's something that will get better with time and confidence. Even Buckley mentioned he needs to trust the natural gifts he has but nup, Saturday was the last straw so it's time to have a look.

Did Freeman actually have surgery last year? I can't remember but I'm pretty sure Marsh did because he tore his off the bone? I thought Freeman just had "ongoing" issues with his.
