Lol at Saints fans saying they have 'ripped our hearts out' on a borderline best 22 fringe player who we didn't see fit to pay an average AFL wage to, acting like he's gonna be a superstar. They seem to think their 3rd rounder will be enough but I doubt we'd take that insult, let him go for a pinch of shit in the PSD I say.

So Freeman and Pick 8 for Treloar. Two first rounders effectively. Given we had to finish outside the 8 two years in row to obtain those two first rounders its not a win. Treloar is more of a necessity than a luxury coming to us now.
Two unknowns for a proven player? Definitely a win in my book. People place too much faith in draft picks.

We will get a 2nd Rounder for Him or Swap of Picks

So the Draft Picks are worth nothing. Then why should we give more then 1 to GWS for Treloar Then?

Its a disgrace on the clubs behalf we can't talk him around in to staying money or not. What are Buckley and Pert paid for?

Obviously you lack the ability to understand there is more to this case - because skills of Buck and Pert you question here, landed Scherenberg.
So bias again so obvious - or are you trolling?

If you were worried about the longevity of your career and someone offered you double the money your current employer was, would you take it and run?

I doubt there's much the club could have done in this instance without being held to ransom by a kid with 0 games to his name.

We did the right thing as you don't want to set a precedent, soon enough every kid will be asking top dollar before proving anything. I think this will come back to bite the Saints.

Should we trade players from the Saints? Can't think of anyone worth taking to be honest, but can't be shagged going through their list.

Disappointing to see Freeman go without playing a single game for us.But the way I look at it,if the club was really confident in his ability to get on the park and be a good player for us,they probably would have paid what he was asking for. They obviously have severe doubts about his ability to get his body right, and after two years on the sidelines, you can fully understand why they took this stance. It's a huge gamble for any club to take him on,and i'm surprised that St Kilda was prepared to pay so much for a player who hasn't even proven he can play yet.

They got money to burn. Only in a few years time the squeeze will start. Freeman will have retired by then.

Not going to wish Freeman any injuries or anything classless like that. Shame we couldn't retain him as I think he would offer a lot in our midfield if he modelled his game after Hannebery at the Swans. However, if he wants to chase after guaranteed money and opportunity before proving his worth, then so be it. Not the first, nor the last player to take that route. I won't wish him luck, but I don't hold any enmity over the decision either.

We should get St Kilda's second rounder, which we can then ontrade to GWS with our first and pick up Treloar.

#5 won't be involved, people here can forget that. At the same time, a third rounder is out of the question. Unless it were to be Lonie + a third rounder for Freeman, which I'm confident neither Lonie or St Kilda are willing to entertain.

I think this outcome is probably the best outcome for Freeman and Collingwood but a risky outcome for St. Kilda

For Freeman - he is likely to get a 2 to 3 yr deal on circa $300k. For a guy with huge uncertainty on his body and who last played footy (for more than a couple of weeks) back in 2013 (we've had 3 prime ministers in that time) this a really good outcome.

For Collingwood - securing the services of a kid who hasn't played a game, with a significant injury concern to that type of deal is negligent. It would only serve to drive the demands of Broomhead, De Goey, Grundy and others way north of what is reasonable and would inevitably cost us a talented kid who can get on the park down the track

For St. Kilda - the outcome is risky. It will take Freeman a year at least to come to grips with whether or not his body can stand the rigours of AFL football - we aren't talking about a seasoned veteran on the comeback trail here, just a kid who has had a small taste of playing footy with men and nothing more. The upside is the clear ability he showed in 2013 but given most of 2016 will be about his body still, you'd have to wonder what that ability will look like - 3 years of lost development at that age is almost fatal in terms of a football career.

Out of contract, "borderline best 22 fringe player who we didn't see fit to pay an average AFL wage to, acting like he's gonna be a superstar", has nominated to leave and join Saints, St Kilda can front load the offer to make it unlikely that anyone else would be interested - looks like a 3rd rounder to me.

PSD - We'll take that anytime!!!!

The reason why he wants a trade is for money.

We struggled to get 95% of cap this year so financially speaking freeman would be mad not to take our offer.

It should be an easy trade with our second rounder going to you guys

3rd rounder. We may as well just delist him and let him do a Luke Ball.

Alan Richardson won't dick Collingwood. He loves Collingwood, has a son who is in their Father/Son program and personally thanked Eddie after getting the St. Kilda job.

You'll give up your 2nd rounder and a hefty salary for a player that has played as many games as you or I... Nice going. Pick me, at least my hamstrings work. :)

Mate, I understand saints fans get a excited about a new pick up but take a deep breath. He's not Treloar or Adams. ;)

Scharenberg? Played 4 senior games? Freeman hasnt got far to catch up.

Except Scharenburg has a year of VFL on him and had at least got a few afl games in. He has shown that he is at least able to play at that level, even if he never reaches his potential.

Freeman still has potential but after 2 years of barely playing even VFL level, he's a long way behind.
I am not particularly fussed about him leaving, particularly if the Saints are offering twice what we think he's worth. Getting a first round pick back would be a steal if we do get that.

A rational St Kilda supporter!

Well that's bloody disappointing, was wrapped when we took him and the berg but did wonder bout aish, hopefully we can get him now.
