Its debatable whether he was dropped or has a genuine groin injury to begin with. The fact that we went on to win, and nobody played genuinely poorly, means that he should not be included on form alone. Theres just nobody to make way. Perhaps if its wet, and richo is out, browny may be a chance, otherwise...no.

Saying we play better without him is a massive generalisation. See the first few games of 2005 before he broke his leg and our form slump that followed. At his best, he is (was?) our best player. Currently though he is playing like he doesnt give a damn. He is one of the people most responsible for our poor tackling stats. He is a small forward, a position that generally requires the player to be a ferocious tackler. Yet he averages around 1 tackle a game across his career...a pretty dismal effort.

If they bring Brown back he should be told by the coaching staff that past glorys are just that and he is a good chance to play his career out in the 2s.
Never know Brown may respond to that if not drop like a hotcake.

is he definately out?
source?

A story said last week the groin injury will keep him out for 2 weeks so regardless of whether he deserves to play for Richmond or Coburg this week he will still be on the sidelines.

You wonder if the groin has effected his game in the all of the first 4 Rounds? He was flying in the preseason and he would have kicked 50 goals last year if he played 22 games. If you're 5% off your game you tend to struggle. I'm sure we all would love to think Brown has been restricted and capable of being his usual best for the rest of the season

i hope so , as I too believed he was in great nick pre season, ready to really impose himself, there may very well be a bit in this groin prob

maybe, but no one really picked up that he had an injury i think, so it must not have been that bad.

Well he was playing pretty friggen shithouse, so either injured, or just no longer up to it, really do hope it's the former, but have a feeling it's the latter, same with Simmo, game just could have past them by.

If Brown gets over this groin thing he'll come back fine, providing he still has the passion. He's too clever and skillful as a player to be a dud when fit.

He is one of the only players on our list that can really step up and win us a close game. I'll never forget the night he made James Clement (a gun defender) look foolish when we beat Collingwood a few years ago. Think Browny kicked 3 or 4 in the last 10 minutes.

He is an enigma. he is one of the best players in the League hands down. He is a stand out talent but he is an idle lazy coaster when he is not on form. Thats why he is not a great player. He won't play like he means it unless he is on and firing.

In Terry's shoes I'd take him aside and say " Look Browny we are all playing for our futures here. I'm gone if we don't get it together and you are over 30 and headed for the exit unless you do what I know you can and get your frigging finger out and do the biz." If he responds we have one of the best players in the game. If he doesn't bye bye NB.

Well if he had a groin injury and was being selected that is just pure folly. It is nigh on impossible to play anywhere near your best with any sort of groin problem.

You can't hide a groin injury on the football field. It affects your stability, your power, your agility, your speed, your vertical leap .... Like any injury it is confidence sapping aswell. Brown relies on power and agility amongst other things to deliver the goods. If he hasn't been fit that could explain his form, because as most have stated he looked the goods pre season.

OP is a "groin injury" look what its done to other elite players, turns them into piece meal performers in a competition where really only 5% of ability separates the wheat from the chaff.

you can tell when someone is playing with an injury. and most of the time even a slight injury. i'm sure if he had problems running or jumping someone would have picked up on it. but hopeful he did have a injury and it went undetected and that was due to him performing badly.
