I am not sure how weird it is posting about an opposition player but I loved seeing Vardy get a medal today. As someone who looks back on most ex-cats fondly, it’s great seeing someone who is a genuinely good guy playing well in a grand final, doubly so that opposition was Collingwood.

Happy for any ex Geelong player to win a medal.

Has been a solid contributor for them since he came in.

Wonder which ex Geelong player wins a flag next year.

Probably Duncan...

Vardy does annoy me though - he does seem as though he should have been a far better player with the gifts that he has. That said, the injuries must have taken a huge toll on his leap and mobility.

There were two games where I really thought he looked like our CHF/Ruck for the next eight years - one where he kicked four against Gold Coast including a beauty off his toes, and also SJ/Stokes/Kelly's last game against Adelaide.

I mean hip injuries are pretty debilitating, especially for someone of his size.

Always happy to see ex player achieve success.

Also congrats to Vards! Played a great role in a fantastic premiership win.

In fairness, he played almost the whole of his last season in Geelong - just in the VFL and not particularly well...
So why was Scott not able to get the most out of him? And Varcoe too for that matter? Hmmm....

Played really well today. If he performed like that at Geelong then he would have never been let go. Congrats to Vards on he win.

Bit of a long bow to draw there, Jack. He's had his fair share of injuries at West Coast, too.
25 games at Geelong in 7 seasons, 32 in two seasons at West Coast and a premiership medal. Geelong went into this season dreadfully unprepared.
