Watched my Cats against Aspley today... was a top standard game.. with Aspley breaking it open only in the final quarter...
Cats missing top players in Geary, Haley, Weller, Brennan before the game and lost Captain Fife and Greely very early in the game.. thus a great effort by the Cats today, and Im sure coach Blair from Aspley will acknowledge the standard of the game.
On another note, most of you would be aware of a guy by the name of Dave Moran ( Broadbeach Dave)
He is the guy in a wheelchair, that runs the BBQ at our homegames.... but that's not all he does.... he is involved in many other aspects on a volunteer basis within the club, 12 months of the year. In fact, he was honoured last season by the NEAFL, as the best volunteer clubman of the year... Well, Dave had a serious
turn of some kind today ,whilst he was running/cooking the BBQ... was rushed to hospital, and I haven't heard yet as to how he is....
Now this guy eats and breathes Broadbeach football club and all clubs have guys like this....they
are so important to our clubs... thus guys, may I ask for you to post some get well messages and I will post these onto Dave. This will mean a lot to Dave....so please help[.

Broadbeach Dave There are many reasons, for you to get well. Your family loves and needs you. Your family the Broadbeach football club is totally unsupervised in your BBQ area. Wishing you a fast, easy recovery and perhaps some bright cheeriness!

Clubs survive with people like Dave. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Watched 3 qtrs of Panthers v Sharks today. A game possibly Morningside could have won. Should have only been 2 gls down at 3 qtr time instead of 25. Some horrendous skill errors out of panthers back half towards a mis firing fwd half didn't help there cause. Would be a interesting stat to see Sharks scores from Panthers turnovers. Southport usual suspects at it again, Burge, Kiel, Pope and the general Maqualter. Baxter a big focal point kicking a bag and Mallan with a few as well. Not a bad contest

Watched a bit of the stream and agree with these comments. Skill errors(usually a strength) hurt the panthers.

I was actually pretty proud of the cats yesterday despite an 8 goal loss. Played some excellent footy against a strong opponent. Early in the final 1/4, had one touched on the line and one other missed shot, which at the time would have seen us hit the front.

Losing 3 key players and obviously not having rotations told in the final 20 mins of the game. The boys were spent and aspley put us to the sword. Blair is obviously a great coach because the discipline/attitude issues in the past are gone and it would not shock me if the hornets reached the gf. We were up and about for 3/4 qtrs yesterday and the hormets of the past would have lost their nerve and lost to us in the identical situation.

All the best wheelchair dave

Dogwarna,
yes agree with you,the first quarter killed the Panthers,( 7 goals to two) was a good contest after that though.Panthers coach Rogers and his staff have done a great job with their list.... they play very good footy.Number 7 for the Panthers, ( is it Wallen) , is very talented.

Yep Jesse Wallin but unfortunately he is one of the chief culprits for murdering the football, works his backside off but turns the pill over way to much and it's the only thing that holds him back from higher honours. Same with Scott Clarke. Buntain a likely type.

All the best to Dave.

Panthers first quarter had them on the back foot for remainder of game and could never get closer than a couple of goals before Southport pulled away again. Morningside a relatively young team and in the end Did well to hang in / remain competitive for rest of game - some of Rogers changes after qtr time helped keep them in the game despite Southports strengths - Starcevich as second ruck clearly didn't work today so switched it around after qtr time, Southports disciplined backline out pointed Morningside overly Abey focused forward line, etc. Southport pressure forced some (but not all) pf the poor disposal / turnovers.
Interesting to watch young Smith from Morningside today - has had a great season but didn't cope well at all today with hard tag - Rogers spent time with him one on one at times during the game and persisted with him in his usual positions and didn't just move him to the forward flank or somewhere else - in the end didnt have a great game today but hopefully a great learning experience for him and he will learn form it

Has had a super year of footy for his first in NEAFL after winning Noosa's B&F last year.

Aspley
Labrador
Redland (being this far behind in the tipping may as well tip my team, would be a massive upset though!)
NT

Ripper game at Aspley today with the home team unlucky to end up with a draw. Bock kicked 9 out of the goal square with one in the final minute and was clearly the difference. Given lack of a tall forward in Suns seniors am unsure why he can't camp in a square for them.

Neil's kicked 4 for Aspley with Sansbury and Matthews both in good form.

Some of the young top up kids for Suns did well
