When you consider we all want a premiership, and when you consider we haven't won one, despite plenty of chances, in 20 years, it's little wonder people are negative, or critical, or looking for reasons.

History has also shown that we are often right when it comes to our perception of the club, or certain people within it.

The AFC is competitive always has been it took an unusual individual to win us two flags

Pyke is conservative and competitive as was Neil craig

Our whole staff in fact is conservative and plays the percentages of looking for competitive outcomes

Do we need eccentric people like blight to take us back to a flag

I think we were on the right track with Phil Walsh. Such a heartbreaking tragedy for everyone; his family, friends and the Club. But just awful when you think Phil didn't get the chance to prove how good a coach he could have been.

Pyke may be a good coach, but he lacks the charisma and eccentricity of a Blight or Walsh. I don't think he has the spark needed to get all the players going, as has been shown by the lacklustre efforts we've seen lately.

Hindsight is always right. I don't recall any GF week predictions of a big GF loss due to our boys club/bad culture/etc etc etc.

You don't need hindsight to question what's going on at the club right now. And I think you'll find there were plenty of questions about a few appointments over the last couple of years, despite our results.

How can we be sure if that you ask?

Historical information gives us the answer

I would be more than happy to bottom out

Yes correct everyone is concerned for their job and bottoming out will undoubtedly cost jobs which may be our problem

What's the point in bottoming out, if Hamish is in charge of our recruiting? ;)

If some had their way "fanta" would still be blowing draft picks and "Triggy" making horrendous decisions.

I agree they should realise we need the best maybe whoever created the hawks cats super strong dynasties might be worth going after

someone who knows how to get you a flag
Has Hamish had similar draft picks or father sons as these clubs?

No he hasn’t but I don’t care I want a list that can win a premiership but you obviously prefer to be competitive like we are

But you’re wanting the recruiters from those 2 clubs based on their success whilst ignoring the extensive advantages those guys had over Hamish. How do you know if Hamish didn’t have the same drafting rights he wouldn’t be as good?

As for us being happy at just being competitive, what actually are you basing that on? What suggests I or anyone else is? My thread is about taking a hit this year, finishing as low as we can to take advantage of the super draft so then Hamish might have the low first round picks he never has. How does that equate to being happy just to be competitive?

And keep repeating it just makes you sound like a dill because it has no basis.

We have never had truly low picks in our history and got two premierships port generally havent got low but again not like some clubs

How did ourselves and port get those premierships because we haven’t managed to achieve it since we got close last year but no cigar so we were obviously lacking something that can’t be debated because we don’t have a trophy

Maybe it is bottoming out maybe it is trading more aggressively and getting top end picks maybe it is realising your staff aren’t as good as you think maybe it’s realising we over rate the list

They get paid the big bucks to work it out but let’s be honest 20 years is long enough to wait to sort it

The present staff and system isn’t working that can’t be argued as we have no premiership for 20 years

You actually know we will be 5 to 10 years away minimum if not longer so do we have a clean out and get aggressive

Maybe starting with your mate Roo

There are far too many negative threads on our board after a few losses. If the club followed the advice on here there would be no coaching or admin senior staff left plus quite a few players gone. How about we place all these negative pieces of bs into one mega-thread and call it something like NEGATIVE NEALS AND NELLIES POST HERE. That way the perennially depressed types that inhabit our board along with the trolls from other clubs that infest us will have a home and the rest of us might get on with some rational debate about the club and where we are at present.
FFS pull yourselves together. You follow a bloody good football club that achieves more than most. Yeah, we haven't won the Big One for a couple of decades yada yada yada...Boys Club....Coaches no good...David Mackay.....yada yada yada....fitness staff....David Mackay....f***ed culture....David Mackay....yada yada yada. Getting to the stage where the misery guts on here spend inordinate amounts of time being miserable and trying to bring the rest of us down with them
Buck your ideas up.

There is a broad spectrum of people posting on here with a broad spectrum of opinions. Some opinions aren't like my opinions, but the beauty of that is we are able to debate.

My opinion is that there is something wrong with the fitness department, and I think there is a fairly solid basis for that opinion. This is an internet forum, so guess what? I'll be posting my opinion :thumbsupemoji: and so will everyone else. They're just opinions.

Do you think the AFC actually care? it's just part and parcel of being in the public or being a leadership figure. I have 1000 employees. I would estimate 20% like me, 60% are indifferent, and 20% think I'm a ****ing w***er. So at least 200 people hate on me and dislike every decisions I make. That's life if you want do something meaningful. The easiest way to not be criticised is to do nothing. I'm not going to go around trying to make the 20% of people who have negative opinions change their opinions and neither will Fagan or the AFC. They wouldn't care what's posted on here.

How did we and Port get those premierships? Ever heard of start up concessions?

How long has Hamish been at the club?
What are the draft picks he has had to work with?

Without acknowledging those 2 questions you just sound like a repetitive dill.

As for staff, I’d be getting rid of Burton, Chapman and even Roo before I moved on Hamish.

Good point. We need to keep up this momentum just in case there’s even the slightest chance they do read this board.

Stop being so precious and 1) create your own content 2) avoid threads with content you dislike and/or 3) leave.

You’re complaining because this place isn’t an echo chamber and that makes you sad. If you want an echo chamber then join one of the many that exist on social media. This board is one of the last bastions of sanity left within the AFC supporter group that doesn’t go out of its way to pat the club on its back at every turn.

Hamish has been at the club 12 years and 6 years as manager so effectively 12 out of the 20 years in the dreaded premiership drought

youre a very patient man

He’s been the head of our recruiting for 6 years, the first 2 we did not have one first round pick.

In that time he’s drafted some quality players, many from late picks.

He didn’t draft our average senior players who you love who should be the ones you are holding accountable for our poor form, not newbies.

I don't love any player if they cant win us a flag, but remember we don't have the depth to replace these guys because our list is crap

lets be honesrt was Jarman a good pick up????? at all

I think the issue is not so much about too many negative threads but too many posters who fail to find anything positive about the club.

Their are a lot of posters who appear to have made it a lifes work to only post negatives. Nothing is ever good enough for them even during times of success. They put themselves up as the exoerts in everything and are never wrong.

An occasional positive post would change this perception. I think this is what the OP is trying to convey
I also think that to be constantly negative has to be a drain on your real life? Many people mistake my approach to footy and our club as being sycophantic and thinking the club can do no wrong... where it is absolutely no where near how I feel. I CHOOSE to try to look for positive things in shitty situations, mainly because I really hate feeling shitty about things, certainly about my footy. I used to take footy too seriously and finally realised that 99% of what I was getting upset about, I had no control over. So... I try to find the positives out of an otherwise really horrid season. It does become a little overwhelming when so much negativity abounds, but given our current situation, even I can see it's hard to find the positives.

You didn’t love Otten last year? Mackay? Douglas?

We are sitting equal 8th with the most games lost to injury and second for players missing from our top 10. Thats pretty commendable and remember just a couple of weeks back you excused our loss because we had 7 of our top 10 players out.

No club nails every pick let alone rookies but if one clubs has excelled with late picks and rookies it’s us.

And what you continue to ignore is the impact of the loss of 2 first and second rounders due to our admin, but because we didn’t get Burton you hang everything on Hamish. You’re bloody annoying.

He was also responsible for Dangerfield and Sloane from memory.
