Direct, through the parklands and suburbs it's about 3km. Or a bit over 1km to the tram stop.

It will be interesting how they do the linear trail area up - especially between Port Road and South Road, including the new Southwark development, Bowls Club etc. It would be a longer walk/ride/e-scoot but with time, some good walking shoes and some good refreshment establishments along the way, could be a nice longer walk.
I use this path every day including when I ride to games. I doubt anyone would walk from hq to AO. Even if it's on the way I'd rather grab a few from Dan's and drink along the torrens somewhere.
 
It can't be that hard to organise a dozen buses from AO to HQ and vice versa every game. It would catch on, get a few ex players there, Sam Jacobs could drive a bus, happy days.
