if only there was another plan so the taxpayers didn't have to pay so much money towards it

Taxpayers will be asked to contribute $55m to build a new Adelaide Aquatic Centre on a different site in the parklands.
A $90,000 feasibility study examined options on two potential locations with a 50m indoor or outdoor pool, leisure pool, hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium, learn-to-swim pool, spa, saunas, creche and cafe.

It has recommended the council should build a new facility with a 50m outdoor pool near the intersection of Barton Tce West and O’Connell St.

The complex would have a 400-space carpark, taking its total footprint to almost 2.5ha.

The existing 50-year-old centre near the intersection of Jeffcott Rd and Fitzroy Tce, which costs ratepayers around $2m a year to operate and maintain, will remain open while the new facility is built.

Sounds like it’s going to take up more parklands space as well. So all the bits they didn’t like about our proposal but none of the good bits.

Oh gosh. You know, I'm not much on speeches, but it's so gratifying to... leave you wallowing in the mess you've made. You're screwed, thank you, bye.

I'm shocked Liberal stooge Alex Hyde who basically runs the council wasn't all over getting private investment to fund it.

Maybe they can put an OTR in it. Derrimut gym?

Read an article today saying our proposal has the lowest $ return out of the 4 progressing due to the Crows facilities taking up land. People seem to believe that'll cause us to get the flick the quickest.
Its in Adelaide Now, Commercial & General and 2 developers from Melbourne.

In terms of lowest return, its says it $25m less profit but thats the return to the developers right? If so that can only impact how much each party are willing to pay and unlike the other parties we have a $15M government grant.

The bids still have to put in their financial offers so as long we accept we will make a lower return but are prepared to pay, which we would have going into this as we are using it for a football club, I can't see why we aren't still in with a chance.

Unless I am reading it wrong.

The article doesnt say about us getting the flick the quickest so are you hearing that elsewhere?

All the PR coming out of the club intimates we are likely to get Brompton.

To get thrown out very early in the tender process and be nowhere near winning resulting in us going to Thebarton would be a PR disaster.
In your opinion.

I think they would prefer Brompton but I have never seen where they (Silvers and Olson) have intimated we are likely to get Brompton. Unless by club you mean SRowe & KG.

Isn't lowest return meaning lowest return to us and our developers....As in the purchaser...not the lowest return to the vendor...? If so, what does that matter?

And just because we would likely get the lowest return, our use is not the same as a commercial development like the others that I also assume would require a certain higher return for their shareholders, whereas the Crows have different benefits from the purchase and development, plus govt money.

Edit: and I assume it would be decided on based on a combination of the purchase price and meeting local community needs etc.

I wouldn't have thought the developers would disclose their financial returns as part of the tender process. Deaneus! will know.
