Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Hm. The game most certainly won't be rated on all levels of football, otherwise an Under 10's team would be 70

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Would be a lot of time and money wasted if they had to remodel all new draftees and deleted the retirees and delisted players for next year

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

All this talk about the draft is pissing me off. There's no point. The more it is complained about the more happy I am it's not in it. Well done Big Ant!

I honestly don't understand your reasoning there.

Why is the fact that other people are unhappy about there not being a draft, make you happy that there isn't?

I agree and expressed this view in Part 3. Also the season mode stucture would have to be altered entirely to accommodate 17 teams, and the AFL is yet to confirm just how the fixture layout will be. IMO it doesn't make sense for it to be a 2011 release.

any chance of screenshots tonight ? :)

Perhaps a 1% chance.

But no.

Ant_ can this board get a sub forum for the regulars where we can have a proper discussion thread for this game without 90% of the posts being "whats the release date" "no draft sucks" "whens it coming out" "does it have ochre jumpers" "anyword on when its hitting the shops"

Ross commented saying that you can control up to 18 teams, in a season mode, what I take from that comment is that you can probably either choose how many teams will be in the season, or whether it means official season mode is 16 sides or custom season is as many up to 18. Which covers created sides/ or the down loadable content in GC or GWS eventually.

So I assume if you had mates around you could play an 8 team season, if you wanted to? I am sure the fixture would not be that hard to work out, randomly generated depending on how many sides involved, and if there is 17 there is a draw? I don't know that is just the way I read those comments

Because it rubs into those whingers face a big dose of reality. Why do we need a draft? It doesn't add anything to the game play. It just makes things more manageable. Most people might just want to pick this game up for a quick 20 minute match with some friends and put it down. Unless your really into the swing of simulating a career mode there isn't really a point.

Hmm, good point. But I took that to mean the season mode would be the standard 22 round, 16 team thing to maintain realism, and have custom comps automatically generate fixtures for a 17 team league. I'd be surprised if randomly generated fixtures were put in for the 2011 season in season mode.

Agreed actually, 4 threads (3000+ posts) from just discussion and 2-3 other threads on other speculation possibly warrants a wider space? And what onyacoxy says about the 12 year olds around.

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

To be honest I'm not fussed at all with the extent of features this year, just as long as the gameplay itself is solid, which its shaping up to be. We are already fortunate enough to have create-a-player,league and team in there, not to mention new buttons with more kicks and bumps and marks, and substitution system. Next year when AFL 11 is out maybe then worry about the extensiveness of the feature but for now I'm really happy with what I've heard about AFL 2010.

Everyone has the chance to ask a question, be they a noob or remember when Chief first turned this site on. If someone is new direct them to the sicky thread.

Report the trolls and off topic nonsense.

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

I don't give two ***** about drafts and all that, aslong as I can be a realistic Daniel Rich and spear a 60 meter pass into the chest of Fevola I'm happy :thumbsu:

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Quit crying about no draft. 03 and 04 were 100 times better than 05-08 from the previous series and they were the only 2 without a draft. Truth is this version will be rusty. If we can get a good game with lots of features by the 4th or 5th installment ill be f*ckin pumped. Less time spent on making a draft = more time spent on game play. No matter how many features they pack into it, it wouldn't mean sh1t if the gameplay is rubbish. To hear they have focused on gameplay is the best news all year.

Fair enough, each to there own I guess.

I'll admit I was dissapointed when I heard there wasn't a draft etc. But like others have said, the most important thing is game play. And having the player/team creator and being able to switch players around from different list definately has softened that blow.

I'm more than happy to know the game play has been given majority of the attention, even if it means waiting a year or two for a draft system etc.

Been waiting for a decent AFL game for years! Looks like this will be the one, from what we've seen/heard so far.

Thanks for all the info and interaction you've given us so far, Ross.

EXACTLY! I'm with you on this naughts. Granted its gonna be pretty hard to master AFL gameplay because its such a tough sport to get all the motions down pat, it will definitely be a great game if it plays better than its predecessors. Its gonna be a million times harder to master an AFL game than it is a FIFA or NBA game.

I don't think anyone's crying about it. It just seems a little odd that a feature, that has been included in nearly every sports game since the PS2 days and is basically the foundation of a multi-year Season Mode, hasn't been included in this game.

But as I said before, I appreciate what BigAnt are doing and am looking forward to finally having a next-gen AFL game to play.

Hahah, I spent a good 60 seconds thinking, "I do not understand." before I saw the yellow! :p
