Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Don't spend all day on BigFooty have to work as well. :)

To answer your question, I find them interesting, good chance to network with DBA's and JD Edwards people from around Aus/Nz. Get to see case studies on how other companies have done implementations etc.
So...very boring.:D
You will be able to create as many as the teams would hold, potentially 18 side of 42.

Unfortunately the PSEye doesn't work too well as when you wrap the image onto a models face it distorts when any animation is added to the mouth, eyes, etc... so we haven't put it in. The player creator will get you pretty close to likeness.
Ok, good that you can create as many as the team will fit. Would've disliked there to be a limit of 5-6 created overall or just any real limit regarding how many overall.

So you tried the PSEye tech out and it just didn't work? Any idea of ways to perhaps work around it in the future or go the way EA Sports have using a program via the internet scanning your face in that way? Or do you think that the player creator is just a far better and easier way overall? Will be good to see what it's like, always enjoy a good player creator engine (loved the old WWE game versions, spent hours and hours created characters with mates).

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Another question I forgot.

In season mode, will the other simulated games statistics be consistent with the user played games. For example, It will be impossible to win a coleman if the other 7 simulated games in the round are based on 10 minute quarters when the user played games are played as 5 minute quarters. IIRC one of the old AFL games was like this and it was shit.

Hope I explained that alright.

Yeah, it will be consistent in ours - I think what you are are referring too in the previous version was a bug - I am sure they wouldn't have done that on purpose.

I think the player creator is better as the face is animated and doesn't break. We do study the EA stuff of course and will copy whatever we think works well - I have no shame in that regard!

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Sorry Ross, just a bit confused, I didn't understand about the limit on created players, how many can we make? And how many teams?

I understand if you can't answer though.

You could fill any or all of the 18 teams with up to 42 "custom players". (So 756 custom player limit)

Glad the option is there at least to potentially add in the future.:thumbsu:

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

So we can create up to 18 custom teams?

You have one completely custom team that you can name/design kit for. The 17 other teams you could "gut" and replace with custom players.

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Sorry to repeat myself mate, just interested on a response from this (If possible)

And also, this might sound a little weird but is there any chance us bigfooty members could have our surnames in the game? Like we compile a list and when the commentators do their recording they could add our names in? Obviously might have to wait till next version, although they might have to add all the new draftees in anyway...

I have to be honest and say that is a very long shot - not really going to happen - each and every one of the player names has had to be recorded a number of times each - excited voice, passive voice, let-down voice, etc...

How long did you have Commetti in the studio for, and what's he like? :thumbsu:

Cheers! if people can't work out what that means then they may a little bit silly I feel!!!

Re: New AFL Video Game - Part 4

Are you able to discuss how goal kicking works?

Goal kicking is something I'd like to show a video of - words are not going to cut it. Unfortunately you'll need to be a bit patient on this one.

The same goes for the ruck contest.

That should be really good?
How will the fixture work with the 17/18 teams in the league?
(The power just went off in my house for about 5 seconds, anywhere else?)

Ahh ok mate, no worries :thumbsu: Just thought it was a possibility because I remember Fiery Hawk saying that he might have been able to arrange it for one of the old AFL games.

Alsoooooooooo good news on the commentary front that there is a range of different tones :thumbsu:

Alsooooooooooooooo makes me think that this may be released this year seems it sounds like a lot of new work to include all the draftees :p

Wishful thinking?

Ahh ok, a video would be great! A gameplay video would be fantastic so I'll happily wait for that. Is the press release far away? Say less than 2 months?

A few days.

He is awesome! I am not just saying that, really great guy and very funny!

I expect, but cannot promise, a press release prior to the NRL game shipping (which is September 2nd).

I hope the speculation about the release date can stop - I am not giving hints or expecting people to "read between the lines" in any of my posts.
