Hoping the rivalry will be handled better than past games so I can smash the eagles again lol and not just have it feel like ur everyday game doubt it but will the ground designs be as accurate as having the two giant anchors on the roof of subi for freo home games?

I would love too see the rivalry factor come into play here. It should be treated like a final, when the players run onto the ground you should here a massive cheer, and before the opening bounce their should be a big roar and the commentators should by hyping it up. When the first goal is kicked their should be big roar and players should be celebrating madly, so it sort of brings you into the game, and I don't know if big ant are doing this or not, but their should be a composed bar for when you have a shot on goal, which would be difficult to have cos u could only do it in a set shot situation, if they did have the composed bar feature then it will you feel the pressure of the set shot itself, it should be easier for forwards and harder for defenders for a shot on goal, and of course if you are 5 points down with 1 minute to go and a Zac Dawson for example, if he was 30 m straight in front, and since his a full back the kick should be a lot harder and harder because the pressure that's on that kick and this would take real skill to drill it and win the game and to have the composure too finish off would be a well earned goal but if you can't get the composure right well it will most likely be a point and in this case lose the game.

G'day King Ross,
Don't wanna take up too much of your time because the less time you spend on here, the quicker it would be to finish the game and release it, but keen to find out if the game would be compatable with Dualshock on the PS3?
Who cares if it doesn't just asking silly questions, thats all.

Hey Ross is there gonna be like in 07 when u get tackled the crowd go's ball & after u get a goal u should hear the crowd like going essendon (clap clap clap) essendon (clap clap clap) but lightly for the effect then it fades away. u get what i'm saying & will fletcher be able to kick a goal from 70 out?

Hey Ross,

Is it possible to maybe get a screenshot of what the main menu and team selection screens look like?

I'm curious to see how it is layed out compared to previous games.

Thanks :D.

Be good if this was broken up into paragraphs...but I think a system for goalkicking that is similar to FIFA 2010 World Cup's penalty system would be pretty sweet (which takes in things like the player, pressure of the situation, etc.). However a system that works similarly to that would be VERY tedious as well and in the end you would just be going for a running shot rather than set shot (which is basically what you tend to start to do with previous AFL games as they've never been 'great').

There needs to be a medium gained where the set shot is a better option to take than playing on (unless in a situation where you need to play on, boundary, other tighter angles etc.) but not something that is too easy that you're always looking for a set shot either. It's gonna be really hard to 'get right' and have set shots really re-define and come up with a truly great set shot system.

Huh? Are you asking if the PS3 will have it's controller be compatible with this game? Or are you asking whether vibration feedback will be included? If that then I would be 100% safely assuming that it will be as it's in pretty much every game since DualShock came back.

And I hardly think insinuating that the time Ross spends on here is somehow holding the game's development back is right either...
Probly Essendon and Richmond should get the next pics because we are the big clubs make nth melbourne last. haha.
Richmond, Essendon, North, Freo, Adelaide, honestly I don't care as long as it's not of the same team's as we've already seen (Carlton, Collingwood, WCE, WB, Brisbane) for fairness, I'll be happy.

Thats exactly what I was asking HBK.
Wanting to know if we had to use our hands or can we control it with OUR MINDS!!!

It seems there is a direct correlation between the number of new posters and the drop in the average IQ on this board.

Noobs, please use correct grammar and spelling. This includes commas, full stops and paragraphs. ALso, for the love of god stop asking ridiculous questions that are either already in the FAQ or can be answered by using simple common sense.

Ross may answer some questions, he may not answer others. This is not a popularity contest, if he doesn't answer your question, don't start whinging. We'll get the information, just be patient!

Completely agree. In the past it's been just as good (if not better) to play on and have a running shot, OR the set shots were too easy and you just had to press a button to get it in.

I'd like something to do with timing and accuracy....like, 3rd person view, hold back on the right stick to start your run up, and at the right time (say 10 steps into the run up) you flick the stick forward to kick the ball.

That way, your timing is taken by the right time in the run-up you flick the stick forward (too early means less power, too late means kicking it into the man on the mark), and accuracy is taken as from how close to perfect your timing was, and the angle that you flicked the stick up.

Then you'd tie in things like game difficulty and your goal kicker's set shot accuracy, and balance things around that....

Just thinking.....

This "stick-flick" set shot idea is a really good one. Puts me in mind of how you hit the ball in Tiger Woods games, which works well as you need to flick quickly enough to get the power and accurately enough to get the accuracy. Would be miles better than any goal kicking system I have seen in AFL games to date.

Also completely agree that there needs to be balance in order to make set shots generally preferable to playing on and kicking for goal.

hey Ross,

i'd jsut like to say a huge thank you for what you are doing here! the screen shots look brilliant and from what you have said im sure the game will exceed my initial expectations (very low to be honest:eek:).

i've been reading through these threads but havnt botherd posted on them due to the noobs that are on here asking stupid questions all the time..

i hope they dont stay around after the games released:eek::eek:

I'm looking forward to the pic of Buddy. Also very keen to see how set shots/goal kicking works. This game will be the next game i purchase i think. Not many other games interest me at the moment, gone off gaming to some degree.

That'll change though :)

Even though there hasn't been a release date announced yet??? With speculation that a Gold Coast team is in there, you'd say they'd have to wait til trades and draft is done, which would put it some time next year.

Also, there's a lot of good games due out soon. Some that really interest me are Gran Turismo 5, FIFA 11, DJ Hero 2, F1 2010, Little Big Planet 2....

Saying that....I'll still be buying AFL, no matter when it comes out.

Yea plenty of quality games coming out, but I just dont have the interest in them that i had 3-6 months ago. Mafia 2 and F1 2010 were two i have followed but I doubt I'll get them. Mafia 2 would be the one I'd go for. As i mentioned, haven't been in a gaming mood of late, fallen well behind in terms of games i have missed. No doubt I'll get back into it and catch up on some titles i missed.

Yeah, the Tiger Woods thing is kinda what I was thinking about. You also see it with the kick-off in Madden NFL.

I know what you mean. I fall in an out of gaming phases... which means there are some stages where I see more of my girlfriend than at other times. :D

I like the Tiger Woods golf swing idea for goalkicking.

No matter how good you are at that swing, if you arn't 100% concentrating for each swing, you will mis hit a few balls.

The wind direction would also make goal kicking harder, as you have to run up to the mark in a straight line (not able to aim his run on the angle you want to kick it), and any wind allowances would have to be made through a slight deviation in the sticks movement. Goal kicking should be hard, as it is in the real AFL.

Which brings me to a point that hasn't been raised, is there an accurate wind setting in the game? I know rain and weather was mentioned in the FAQ, but could find no info on wind and how much it will affect the flight of the ball.

A great idea for the goal kicking control would be after marking the ball, the player automatically goes back behind the mark. After that, you have full control, Left stick would be your walk/run in (the further you push the left stick up, the faster the run up).
The right stick would be your kicking for goal.

And if you get too close to the man on the mark you kick it into him

With all the snipets and info Ross is giving us, i think i'm going to have go into hiding and steer clear of this board for a while, the last few days has been an information overload and i think i'm going to explode with excitement. I WANT IT I WANT IT LOL.

Keep working hard Ross, doing a good job and can't wait to see the final product.
