New AFL Video Game - Wii - Q&A Thread

hi, cant get an answer on this one in the ps3 thread, so since ill be getting both versions thought id ask if stats as in kicks/marks/hballs etc are cumalative throughout the seaon ( so after each round we can look at highest possession winners, kick getters etc

Hi Everyone, just some responses to the questions that have been raised.

Can someone tell me the answer to a question I have, what are the 5 leagues involved in the game?
The 5 leagues are AFL, VFL, TAC Cup, NAB National U18 Championships and the International Cup

I'd really like to know how the mechanic for set shots will work? Will it be a first person view and do we actually do the motion of dropping the ball on our boot? Or do we just do a simple "waggle" command?
The motion required is an upwards flick of the Wiimote and a release of the kick button. The default camera setting is from the 3rd person so this will be the view for set shots. However if you chose to change the camera setup then the set shot view will change accordingly. The 3rd person camera view is also the camera used for our 3-point shootout style kicking minigame.

Have to say, while they're very Wii like, they're a lot better than I expected. Most players are genuinely recognisable. Lists must be old though...Tambling in the Richmond pic...
The colours could be a bit better (eg. Melbourne's blue and Brisbane's maroon) but it's not a good idea to be fussy when it comes to Wii graphics.
The released screenshots from HES are from the development stage last year which means 2010 line-ups and guernseys. The colours are the exact colours from Melbourne's and Brisbane's style guide however all these have been updated exactly to the 2011 style guides. The depth blur has been tweaked since those screenshots were taken last year.

As mentioned before, we will release new screenshots as soon as WE can get approval for the images so that everything is up-to-date ;)

Yes, in our career mode you can view and prioritise the accumulative totals for every player for stats such as kicks, inside 50's, goals, hitouts etc.

If WAFL isn't in the game then what leagues do we have the option of playing and is the WAFL a possibility for next years title. Also could I create the WAFL as a league of custom teams if I wished?
Our original desire was to have a u18's and senior league for every state and territory. This wasn't possible for this title. This will remain a high priority for us on any future titles. Hopefully we can make this happen if we are given an opportunity to make another title but I like your positivity in assuming there will be a next years title ;). While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, if these new titles do not sell well then it could be another LONG wait for any future AFL games. As mentioned before, rugby games outsell AFL games even in Australia. These figures will need to turn around to encourage anyone to invest in a future titles.

We are doing all we can to ensure future AFL titles come sooner than later. If you like what we are trying to do for AFL video games please help the cause and follow us on twitter at:

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd let you know we have posted some new development screenshots on our website and on facebook. We will be adding new images to that every so often so keep checking in to see whats latest. Remember these are development shots!

Amongst the screenshots you will find a shot of a break tackle mini contest as well as a shot of our "Lou's handball" minigame. Enjoy ;)

They look good. I'll be getting this and the PC version from Big Ant (when it comes out). Definitely be turning the break tackle/ruck displays off if that's possible (I think it is?)...I hope the whole mini-contest thing is quick and as simple as a few shakes or taps rather than slowing the game down too much.

Thanks for your effort Wicked Witch..can't wait!

You can customise your preferences which gives you the option of turning mini-contests on and off. This includes ruck displays and break tackles.

Yeah I noticed that too...but I think they've captured him pretty well. They've got that almost-smiling thing perfectly.

I reckon the Wicked Witch logo would go well on the Carlton jumper too...not that you'd choose your sponsors by colour combination etc.

Good to know, how long is the trailer?

Also does it feature actual gameplay footage?

Thanks for the updates as well....much appreciated.

Just something from the PS3, 360 and PC thread...

It would definitely pay to pre-order if you want the game on release day, as there is the potential for the game to sell out (because of the uncertainty over how sales will go...they (publishers) don't want to over-produce and over-stock (stores), the latter particularly in non AFL states or maybe everywhere other than Vic).

So if you plan to get the game but going to wait and see reviews...you might miss out if they do sell out and have to produce more copies which could take up to 2 months.

At least, Ross (from Big Ant) seemed to think this might be an issue for the Wii game as well.

I am not sure if these photo's have been showen but I got these pics from wicked witch wesite

can we make custom teams and also in the international cup is there an australian team. I know there isn't an australian team in the actual afl international cup but was just wondering if in game there is.

Bugger I just ordered a classic controller for wii, and THEN read that you can only use a game cube controller..

are the japanese game cube controllers compatable with an aussie wii??

going to order one from playasia...
I'd say so, they're controllers, pretty sure none are region locked.
