Quite like the balance of this article from Rohan Connolly.
Here's a couple of brief excerpts:

We started the season off on fire last year as well and maybe even playing better footy but that didn't last long.

So far the signs have been good but there is a very long way to go this season.

yes but also last year at one point we had 12 + players on the injury list. and it wore the young kids out. yes we are playing kids this year again but we have fewer injuries and therefor a rotating the kids around a lot better. I don't expect us to finish top 4 but. we play Carlton, Geel, and Richmond in the next 3 weeks. so on current form we should win 2 of the next 3. placing us at 5 and 2. which is a very good platform at making the Top 8

Connolly is one of the most level headed journalists going around. Wouldn't say hes extremely knowledgable, but one of the few you can listen to without having to hear biased dribble.
Always has interesting stories to tell. Far from the worst going around.

The article is okay, acknowledging a simple truth that we don't know where Collingwood will end up or how fast they'll get there, but more generally I have a lot of time for RC. No, he doesn't go in for thorough analysis, but I like that he spends most of his energy as a journalist talking about the positive aspects of the game. This has been a survival mechanism for him throughout the Essendon drama, but I also think he's just passionate about the things which make the game great and interesting.

I'm impressed with our start but reckon we'll struggle with a long season and immature bodies.

I'd be happy to be 5-3. then with the likes of Witts / Reid / Greenwood and Sidebottom to all come in. obviously Dagoey / Freeman / Moore and Shaz will all be played but the other 4 ae genuine week in week out performers.

I know what you mean about Caro, in that she's made the politics and corporate side of footy her domain. That can be annoying from time to time, but given that the footy media industry is increasingly dominated by football players, ex-players, and even club administrators (e.g. Ed and Brayshaw), I think that her work is vital in its own way.

The AFL have grouped early round games against similar opposition, so all the top teams play each other, likewise the poor and middling. It's clever because the season won't be a lost cause by round 8-10. Average teams will have an illusion of finals success for a fair chunk of the season and top teams will lose a lot more than usual.

The Essendon win was a good one because they look to me like a top 8 side and certainly did a job on the Hawks. Still, I still us finishing in that 7-12 realm but given the younger players seem to be picking up the slack this could be a great development year. Think the worm is starting to turn.

Anyway, I think that Rohan does more than tell people what they already know, or think they know, but for mine I enjoy a journo who doesn't strain to put forward an analysis which will be unpicked by the next round of football. He's someone who generally conveys a straightforward appreciation of the game, without the need to conjure a sense of crisis, and without the need to suggest that he knows more about the game than those who are reading his articles. I don't mind a footy journo telling me something I don't want to hear, but their opinion is rarely worth more than the next ex-footy would-be-analyst, and RC's puff pieces are a nice respite from those pretensions.

But I did have the thought whilst reading it that, is this a ploy to pump up the supporters so everyone can enjoy it if/when we come crashing back down to earth.

But I'm glad to see most peoples expectations are in check for this year.

I'm not quite sure what there is to disagree with really.
It seems to me to be just suggesting that we are on the right track long term.
