Yeah, why are they wearing their Fitzroy guernsey in Perth?

Anything that means less wear time for their clash jumper is fine with me!

(seriously though... using the red/royal jumper gets rid of all the maroon, which is close to purple. Probably a better clash solution than the clash jumper.)

The Lions wearing their Fitzroy jumper is a conscious decision. Most likely because Fitzroy played their last AFL game against Fremantle at Subi, and if you want to go a bit deeper, Fitzroy's final win was also against Freo. – well, this is what I think.

The white would be just as adequate as a clash solution.

And considering Brisbane Lions wear their Fitzroy jumper in every Victorian game, surely they'd want to showcase the white clash as much as possible? Just a thought.

I think this is a fairly sound theory...from memory the Lions wear the white away against the Crows and other non-Vic clubs...

Well wouldn't it depend on who they play ? I mean if they played Carlton for example they would probably wear their away jumper.

But lets not jump ahead of ourselves. Lions are not going to have to worry bout that problem for a long time :p

If it were a Lions home game, they'd wear their maroon home strip.

And if it were an away game, the home jumper with white shorts would be the next option. But if a clash arose, they'd probably wear the white clash...

Say if Brisbane make the grand final one year and they still have the 'Fitzroy-inspired' away jumper would they wear that or the home jumper?

I dare say they'd do everything they could to wear the maroon main kit, as other teams with away/clash kits do
That is the main guernsey of the club at the current time, and it has the Fitzroy Lion on the back
Away tops and "Melbourne" tops typically are only worn in the H&A season unless they are completely required in the finals, and even more so for the Big One.

Did anyone see Richmonds shorts today they were a different colour to the guernsey much darker

They were like that last year too. The shorts are shinier.

I reckon its because they use the KooGa 'evapostretch' material for the PI guernseys.

West Coast wore their away in the '05 and '06 grand finals. So I guess it just depends on the club.

They did but to be fair, the wings are often known as the Eagles finals jumper. Plus, they have much more history in the wings than their home.

Seeing as though Melbourne's game against the Bulldogs week is going to be the Jim Stynes Tribute game, can we expect some sort difference in their kit?

Players will wear a special guernsey, with a green clover leaf emblazoned below the red V, and each player will be accompanied onto the field by a junior footballer from the Prahran Football Club - the club that Jim played for in the VFA as part of his football apprenticeship.

You're thinking Preston football club, who had their pride and history taken away from them by carlton.

Prahran used to play in the VFA.

Re: New Jumpers for 2012 (2)

Hey guys, a thread about guernsey design has arisen on the Port board (again!) and I was just wondering if one of you wizards could spare the time to show us how a suggested change to our current jumper would look. Here it is, let me know if it needs further explanation:
