Of course, silly me, long day. Play the Dees & Richmond within a few weeks, then Geelong (which they'll wear brown shorts). Still, not as regular as I'd have hoped.

As earlier mentioned by TheExtractorFactor (and obviously last July? on the FJGD board) the Hawks 'Legends' guernsey has officially been unveiled. Quoting the article on the Hawks website:


Interesting that it's replacing the Gold-on-Brown Away jumper the Hawks have been wearing since 2013, especially when it was though to be only a Clash jumper and the GoB would be staying, but it's going to be replacing both. Nice move from the Hawks in my opinion - it's a great design and will contrast against the other teams really well

Legends is going to be a Brand, or type of jumper.
In the same way Heritage was a name concocted by the AFL and we just call it that.
In the US they call them Throwbacks, and uniforms loosely based on them get called Fauxbacks.
There will be a new Legend, a new signature, and probably a new design in the next few years, so long as the sales of this one are decent.
I'm tipping Don Scott, I'll also guess at Michael Tuck, Leigh Matthews, Graham Arthur and Peter Knights.
Now they just need to get a different jumper for all of them.
First thing would be to get rid of the Brown side panels.

I would it would be similar when they play GC away also, lucky that won’t apply in the H&A season this year.
The GWS vs Hawthorn game at Spotless last year was horrible viewing in terms of the guernsey contrast.

Essendon could invert their colours, and add the thinnest of thin red stripes through the black sash. The result would be constitutionally satisfactory (a red sash on a [partially] black guernsey.)

They did something like that with the final clash/heritage that was designed by adidas (2016/17). Would like adidas to have a good go at something like that.

That gold jumper with the brown V would be good v Crows away. Away games v Suns and Giants should be an inverse of that (brown with gold V). All other games should be their regular home jumper

- gold AFL premiers logo sublimated and not heat pressed like home jumper
- Lendi sponsor on the back (still blank on the home jumper)

As the new jumpers thread begins to wind up (not that it really ever got going), it's interesting to compare where this years thread stands in comparison to others. At the moment, the NJF19 thread is at 93 pages on February 28.

In the NJF18 thread, Page 93 was reached by January 31, and by February 28 was onto Page 121/122, finishing on Page 136
In the NJF17 thread, Page 93 was reached by November 11, and by February 28 was onto Page 222/223/224/225, finishing on Page 255

There could be several factors for the decline. Firstly, there's been pretty much no new jumpers at all. I can think of five off the top of my head: a Cats clash that probably won't be worn, the Hawks 'Legends jumper', the Pies pinstripes away and the Smith's Chips Gold Coast clash.

The biggest jumper reveal of all (and the fifth I can think of), the return of the Bounding Roo, widely regarded as one of the best of all time, garnered little discussion for some reason. The timing of the release (right before Christmas) and the fact there was no huge reveal probably meant it flew under the radar a little.

Also, there's been little sponsor movement: I can think of four sponsor changes, West Coast with Lendi, Brisbane with SOOW, Port with GFG and Adelaide with Optus

It's kind of a shame there's been no big movements this off-season, as this thread is often quite lively and has helped the off-season pass quickly. With the Aussie's stinking up the cricket for the majority of the summer, it's been very slow this summer. Finally, however, the JLT is back tonight.

Maybe off-season will have some more movement, maybe it will be slower. Teams are hitting the sweet-spot with their jumpers and changing is pretty useless

This is pretty much it.

For example, West Coast has had a massive shakeup over the last couple of years, but they finally got it right in 2018. So barring sponsor or manufacture changes, or template changes, I wouldn't want to see any changes for a long time. A lot of clubs are in this boat.

I think it's also the first time in ages barely, if any clubs have not changed kit manufacturers in the off season since the start of clubs outsourcing guernsey manufacturing to companies, meanwhile the NRL's been quite busy

I agree - but that's sponsors, not the jumper design/logo etc. And I did say "barring sponsor changes".

The jumper is still mostly right - only needs slight 'tweaking' of the wings and the away logo. The royal home/away & yellow clash combo is how it should have always been - and the logo imho is a big improvement. Looked great on the MCG on GrandFinal day
