Pies only mad when it involves vertical stripes and sorta looks like their kit.Wonder if Richmond will be mad about another team wearing yellow and black.
Collingwood seem to get mad when another team wears Black and White after all

My thoughts exactly in the WC board jumper thread. We’ve done this a couple times now where there’s been a nice design underneath, the club has clearly panicked late in the process and slapped the eagle on top, lest we forget the team were watching.Further, because of the eagle head being in the way, I can't fully tell if the lines make the coastline and hence they just seem like random lines splattered unevenly across the jumper. Ditch the eagle head, make the lines a bit more like the shape of the Ochre and add some more yellow into it and I'd be happy. Not everything needs the eagle, like imagine an ochre without the eagle, it'd still look good!

I imagine they’ve softened given the poor results, it’s a way to keep some interest and revenue going. You can see why West Coast were so reluctant to start making these one off guernseys like the other clubs, they are absolutely putrid at it.
Got the worst designers in the league on their payroll, two absolute shockers this year after Gather round.
Not true, Eddie was cracking the shits on his podcast this year that ports white jumper didn’t have enough teal on it and was too black and white. He also didn’t like port wearing the silver v variant either.Pies only mad when it involves vertical stripes and sorta looks like their kit.
Heck West Coast in the same vein could bar suns away kit
Richmond literally wear a WA state jumper as their clash, so no leg to stand onWonder if Richmond will be mad about another team wearing yellow and black.

And whenever Freight Train isn't in the room, everyone else should be asking "Where's Freight Train?"

Nah they are both terrible designs, nothing to do with the OchreCan’t help but feel like the vitriol towards this jumper (and the Gather Round one) is less about the jumper itself and more about the fact everyone wanted the Ochre, and it’s not the Ochre.

Terrible is a strong word, so curious what your feedback would be on how to approach differently?

They didn't care in 2007 when they wore a WA State of Origin guernsey, which later became Richmond's clash guernsey of course, and again, West Coast and the WAFC said nothing when Richmond did thatWonder if Richmond will be mad about another team wearing yellow and black.

Yeah I agree, the "starburst" shape with the eagle smattered in the middle feels like oversight. It does kinda reminds me of the ochre in terms of placement, though. Can’t help but feel like the vitriol towards this jumper (and the Gather Round one) is less about the jumper itself and more about the fact everyone wanted the Ochre, and it’s not the Ochre.
I thought the Electric Eagle was actually quite good as a fauxback and to that point, this jumper serves its’ purpose as a celebration/cross-promotion with the WA Day event itself (see below)

If it was me, I’d be making the WA shape larger to take up most of the guernsey and the Eagle head to become a secondary element under the HJ’s logo but each to their own and keep in mind that these things are often more than just a club designer or apparel designer and go through that many levels of approvals and feedback with different stakeholder needs and opinions having to be met.

I learnt that Clubs are apparently restricted to 8 designs a season. Source is the blokes who wrote the “Fibre of Freo” jumper book so a pretty knowledgeable sourceIt probably happened long ago but surely we've jumped the sharknow in regards to Footy jumpers. How many designs can a club wear per season before it becomes farcical?
This probably points out the biggest problem with the WA Day top.Yeah I agree, the "starburst" shape with the eagle smattered in the middle feels like oversight. It does kinda reminds me of the ochre in terms of placement, though.
