Yeah because KPP always develop and play awesome games at 18 (refering to Sellar)

The people with those expectations also need some patience.

Not that I really see him as a KPP prospect, but people need to do the same thing with Taylor Walker.

Seriously, I think one other person on the Crows forum has spoken of seeing him before yet he's been hyped up as our saviour by dozens of people when the fact is he is not a highly rated prospect in this draft. He is basically considered to be a handy, bargain pick up for us because he would otherwise go around Pick 30.

I've seen him play three times and I think he can make it, but he is a long way from that and considering the level of footy he has been playing then the SANFL will be a massive jump for him. The big positive is that he seems to be able to deal with challenges and playing higher levels really well (Broken Hill < Div 2 Champs < TAC Cup), but the SANFL will be like nothing he has played before and that's before we even start thinking of AFL.

When draft day comes around whoever we take at Pick 30, think of that kid, treat Taylor in the same regard and don't expect him to come over here and kick five goals every game.

Know what you mean.

But with regards to Sellar, based on some of the things i have seen posted on this board you would think Sellar has been at the crows for 2-3 years and is 20+ years of age.

When in reality he has spent one Season at the crows, not even a year yet, and thats a season interrupted by injury, and at 18 years of age, 19 by the start of next season he still has a while to go to be ready to play AFL.

Need to show some patience when drafting really young players.

Same should be applied to Walker, considering hes 17 and hasn't finished yr 12 yet.

I am the one person that goes into these things open minded. I am aware that Sellar has had groin and fitness issues this year and as such his from would have been affected.

Thats not what raised the red flag for me. I was overseas for pretty much all of last pre-season and really had NO handle on how we are travelling, who is flying or who is flopping. I went to that pre-season cup games against Port Adelaide at the start of that year and prior to that game, I was at the shed where Neil Craig was going to speak to supporters before the game. What raised my red flag RE Sellar was Craig's comments and reaction when he was asked about it.

He ansolutly couldn't stop praising Tippett, Gill, MacKay and Campbell but he was MUCH more reserved about Sellar and his attitude and maturity. From Craig's comments one could draw a conclusion that Sellar is not aware of what it takes to be an AFL footballer. The work and sacrifices involved to get there. That has been confirmed by Craig a number of times later, most recently on his end of season 5AA interview. He pretty much stated the same thing but added "but he is slowly learning".

You can get injured, you can have a run of bad luck affecting your development, but the attitude to get there is something that IMHO should be present from day one. This club has an extremly long list of talented players who didn't realise just how much more is required than simply talent. Pfeiffer being the most recent example of this.

For his sake, and for our sake, I hope Sellar matures and realises a few home truths and approaches his football in that manner. If he does that, both us and him have a hell of a lot to gain. If he continues on in the same fashion, he will be yet another 1st round draft pick failure to add to an already depressing list at West Lakes.

I think its unfair to have a crack at others for having their doubts on Sellar when the coach has those same doubts on the kid. If you ask Craig now who he thinks will be getting games as a key forward next year out of all of our youngster he will pick Tippett and Sellar would be right down the end of the list unfortunatly.

He is still a kid and hopefully he matures and his attitude improves because there is NO doubt he has the PURE talent to be a AA class key forward. Whether he get there or not is really up ti James himself.

All-australian at the national champs he would have been right on the draft radar if he wasn't tied to the crows.

I have watched him and plenty of other juniors this year. Walker would be a late second rounder at best, which I must emphasise is still good and makes him a steal for the Crows.
