I'm sure we do.

I've seen Chris play a few times (both in 2003 and 2004) and he always impressed me. He a very balanced footballer with a good brain and good turn of speed. He's certainly one who will keep us alive in tight games, and he always seems to kick a few goals.

I was hoping we would pick him up either with no.40 or no.56, so it was very pleasing to hear.

Good stuff.

He seems to be a quality young man.

What positions did he play in 2003 and 2004, and which of those do you think he performed best in??

What position do you see him playing at AFL level and how long do you think it'll take him to get there?

Thanks.

Chris played as an attacking winger/on-baller. I think he is suited to both positions, because he can do the tough stuff in the middle, but finish well outside the packs.

In terms of AFL, he could also play as a HFF, because he has the ability to score goals on the run with ease and accuracy. His balance when doing this really impressed me. In time he should be able to move in to the midfield and probably be used as an on-baller or on the wing.

I doubt that he will play AFL this year, because there is little room for him. However if his form in the SANFL is consistent (which is one of his greatest attributes in my opinion) and our midfield suffers injuries, I could see him getting a game or two.

If he has a good year in the SANFL in 2005 I think 2006 we may see a fair bit of him.

He's not a perfect player by any stretch. His marking is not that great, and his opposite handballing isn't great. He also tends to kick a fair few floaters. However, his consistency, balance and precision on the run have certainly impressed me so far.

Thanks for the info, Bockchoy67 - much appreciated.

No worries Macca. ;)

Hopefully Chris can now show his talent on the track, given that he is recovering well from his tendonitis and is beginning to train more with the main group.

Must admit looking forward to seeing both he and Nye play, hopefully in the Wizard cup.

Otherwise have to hope and pray that Foxtel this year start to again show some SANFL games

South Australians receive one SANFL game a week, and Victorians are shown VFL games. It's disappointing that the wider community are not shown South Australian football games.

From what I saw at training, Nye is a gem. Looking at his progress so far I'm surprised he made it into the Rookie Draft. He seems very natural in his ability and posseses most of the traits needed to play AFL football.

I can defitnely see him as a defender/tagger is a few years time, maybe even sooner. :)

Used to get the SANFL game of the week here in Vic on Foxtel - but not last year - heres hoping it returns.

The one question mark on Nye apparently is his pace - what were the thoughts of those who saw some training sessions??

Saw it the same as Bockchoy. Certainly didn't notice any lack of pace, but that probably wouldn't be evident one way or the other until we see him in match conditions.

He was very impressive at training.

Am I wrong or are Knights and Nye very similar type players? ie stature, positions .....

Nye seems to be more defensive in his game, hence the reason why he played as a defender throughout 2004. I reckon he could be a great tagger in a few years time.

Chris is more attacking and from the stats shown, kicks more goals than Nye.

However their size and skills (and fitness, from what I've seen) are very similar.

I think we should be comfortable that we have two different players with different strengths and weaknesses. As I said they are great pickups given how late we drafted them.
