So TPG has bought out and taken over iiNet so I guess the club will very soon (if they're not already) be seeking a new sponsor assuming TPG doesn't automatically take over that sponsorship deal also.

I didn't mind the iiNet sponsorship. Their logo was clean and subtle on our jumper.

TPG are maintaining the iiNet brand as a "premium" brand.

I suspect they will also maintain the sponsorship, for at very least 2015.

When did the iiNet deal complete anyway? Was it end of 2015? Three year deal signed in 2013?

The TPG/iinet sale is subject to approval by the ACCC. Nothing final yet.

My first thought when I heard TPG was buying IINET was what does this do for Hawks sponsorship, second was what does this do for ISP competition in this country

A lot of water to go under the bridge before any sale is finalised. But yeah, from memory the sponsorship is 3 years

Hopefully the move never happens because they'll try outsource the Hawks to Manila to keep costs down like they do their entire workforce.

Maybe they might send us to Nigeria instead.

Dear Mr X
The Hawthorn Football Club Pty Ltd has recently announced dividends for the 2014/15 financial year. As a paid up member we are delighted to remit the sum of $1,000,000 Swiss Francs into your nominated bank account. Can you please provide your bank details....

LOL...You forgot their favourite line... "Please transfer $900 via Western Union in order to clear the $1,000,000 into your account".. :p

Didn't quite get to that bit :).

Actually just gave myself an idea. Can anyone PM me a Collingwood membership list and letterhead.

Actually make that Carlton, the average Pies supporter doesn't have any money in the bank.

Yeah I ignore those requests because not only are they clearly scams but I don't need the $999,100 because, wait for it...........I actually won the El Gordo sweepstakes worth twice that much AND it is in $US!!!

However, before anyone comes running to me for a loan, due to a mix up of some numbers and names, they have asked me that I keep this award from public notice until my claim has been processed and my money remitted to my account as this is part of their security protocol to avoid double claiming or unwarranted taking of an advantage of this program by participants.

So if everyone can keep this hush hush it will be greatly appreciated.

Well technically they do have money in the bank - albeit for about 5 minutes from the time the Centrelink payments hit their bank accounts to when they ask for a carton of winnie blues and 2 slabs of VB at their local IGA

TPG are a pack of campaigners to deal with.
I hope iiNet doesn't change under this new management, because TPG suck!
iiNet have slowly become like TPG to deal with. Indian call centres, up and down connection and overcharging with their bill or changing your download limit without reason.

When iiNet hit Adelaide, Adam Internet was one of the better ISP's. Then iiNet took them over and now they're losing customers hand over fist as their service went to shit. iiNet will follow in their own footsteps and become like TPG is now. The service won't improve until we can get better internet services in Aust. from overseas with as much as ease as we can from an Aust ISP.

iiNet have call centres in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand to cover the 24 hours service. They may well have one in India but I have never connected to it. AS for changing the download limit, it is always an increase so I am not sure what you are complaining about. And I have never had a problem with overcharging. The connections sometimes slow during peak periods, but generally I get pretty good connection. TPG? Well from what I remember many years ago, they did suck. ATM, though, I have been pretty happy with iinet, except for the periods when I was moving or changing gear. During those times they can get extremely frustrating. And their FETCHTV service is abysmal and will be disconnected as soon as the contract is up.

I managed our Internet connection at work and we promptly switched from TPG because apart from plans that allowed you to download the entire internet in a month, their customer service was shit, their service unreliable and they were notorious for neglecting business plans should cheaper options become available. Being a good little Hawk, as soon as iiNet jumped on board I switched our work account :) To date we haven't had too many problems and we exist in an older area of Melbourne where the Infrastructure Telstra offer is tin cans between the nodes to our switch... Disappointed you've had a bad experience with iiNet but I'm found them friendly and helpful. They even manage to call me if switching plans etc can save us money. That really spun me out. If iiNet become like TPG we'll head back Internode next, but I really hope the sale falls through :)

Agreed, I've always called during business hours and got an Aussie....or an Indian who does a great Aussie accent :)
Did I mention TPG suck enough times???? :)

There's no call centre in India. Used to have one in Manilla when iiNet bought AAPT, but that was shut down years ago

You forgot the weirdly obvious spelling mistakes
