I think its time for some more new teams

It is time that There is a GC team and the perth reds and adelaide rams should be brought back as well

So entertaining for a world wide sport that it can't even get more people to watch it than Aussie Rules either live or on TV.

If the game was so good you'd have people actually watching the game instead of insecure types like yourself trolling on websites.

well from what i KNOW the Brisbane Broncos have consistently gotten 50,000 at lang park

the penrith panthers consistently get 20,000 to their games

the raiders crowds have been great this year with averages f arounbd the 20,000 mark

So remind me, which has the highest $ turnover - the AFL or RL in Australia - or do you ignore the bottom line facts.

No.1 sport in the only country it's played in.

League, played in a total of 3 countries, 4 if you count France, and a long way behind as the most popular sport in all of them.

They've only ever played one game there. And the crowd was 46,337.

At least AFL is a NATIONAL league, with regular season games being held in *all capital cities*. How can the NRL call itself national when it only has games in four of the eight Australia capitals?

Last years NRL GF was the most watched GF in Australia if you include the regional areas as well. And depends on the peak vs average figures. Makes a difference. And SA and WA had the GF at midnight. Imagine if it was live. Scary.


This year I believe the record was broken twice for the most watched football games on TV in the NRL. Evidently for all codes.

3.5 million watched the first Origin and it was only live in NSW/ QLD. Everyone I know( re:AFL fans) watched it here in VIC and loved it.

And RL is played in a hell of a lot more countries than 3.

Crowds and TV ratings are up this year in the NRL. So things arnt going too bad at all.


AFL may get bigger crowds but it didnt stop 7 clubs from losing $1 million or more last year. The Western Bulldogs are on an AFL relief( re: a lot of money to survive) fund. The Swans made public they need $2 million to survive this year ( A mistake? A lie? Or a way to promote the game at Telstra in Sydney? You tell me). Evidently the QLD Cup RL comp rates higher on TV than the Lions games do. Yes, things are oh so rosy in the AFL too arnt they?



The AFL and its fans seem to spend more time bagging other codes(mainly RL) than watching their own code. Are you guys paraniod or worried? Interestingly, the Herald Sun's poll the other day showed that half that participated in the poll thought the game isnt as good as it used to be. I even read that some well known people in the game leave well before the end because its boring. AFL fans.

So maybe you guys dont feel secure about your game? Worried there might actually be BETTER sports out there in the big world?

Wayne Jackson also spent a fair amount of time this year bagging RL. I heard from my wife's brother in Sydney that NRL CEO David Gallop replied by saing : "We must be doing something right then".


I guess its true. If its no threat, why waste your time bagging it?



Victorians are the laughing stock of Australia. No wonder with this drivel.
 
Wow. Those TV figures for the NRL GF are pretty impressive.

NZ Warriors v Sydney City pulling in over 2,000,000 viewers. I hadn't seen those figures before.

Interestingly or not (which ever way you see it) the AFL GF pulled in less 500.000 more viewers despite loudly and proudly proclaiming to be the only true National Comp in the country.

Also interesting, was more people watched the NRL GF in Melbourne, than people watched the AFL GF in Sydney.
