Newmarket - Aust Cup

Took a double about a 3 weeks ago (before MA won the lightning) on MA to win the newmarket and El Segundo the Aust Cup.

At the time i thought it was a good bet at odds of $22.50.
(and no i am not like DJ and smashed it i only put $10)

My first question is what are there actuall chances of both starting in these races? With Dubia very close after this meeting.

My second question is what weight will MA get and can she beat Gold Edition who will obviously have a much lighter weight?

Why havent we been seeing Gold Edition take her on in all the other top sprint races?

El Segundo's path depends on its next run.
Read somewhere that GE will be staying in Sydney unless it gets wet.
GE is only 3 so theyve kept her to her own age so far.Smart move,she's panels better than the 3yo sprinting fillies,may be better than all of them?

Im also hoping ES runs in the Aus Cup, did a multi with Mansion House winning the Aquinita Stakes at Ascot last Wednesday and ES in the Aus Cup paying $16

I think you've blown your dollars (still nice to have overs).
Despite what many may think MA is no certainty in the Newmarket.
As they say weight can stop a train & there will be a few that sneak in down the weights in the Newmarket.... eg. a horse like Magnus.
I just think she will be weighted out of it......... that said Ive been wrong many times before!!

Miss Andretti IMO isn't sulted to Caulfield like she is at Moonee Valley, plus you may find that Freedman will spell her and get her ready for the world.

As for El, best horse in Australia by a mile, the Australian Cup is his barring bad luck, which this horse gets a lot of in big races

Apart from El (or pinhead to his friends) there are three horses to watch in the Aust.

Pompeii Ruler, Maybe Better and Marasco.

Marasco's run at Caulf the other week was sensational. 3 wide the journey. Pompeii will be better for the run, even though the trainer said he was cherry ripe last start. And a nice little run first up for MB on Saturday.

Can't wait to also see Eremien. He went super first up on Saturday also. He looked fat, so will strip fitter.

I'd say this years Doncaster will be a good one too.

Maybe Better showed enough for me to think he will have a big Autumn.
Coming from the back of the field to finish 5th in a distance which isn't really suited for him was impressive.

Hate to burst your bubble but I would doubt Freedman will run her in the Newmarket, although we all know how much of a trophy hunter the guy is so may even run her to just get 1 up on Hayes. The guy hates being second.

Cant blame him, Takeover Target's win over there last year was memorable so she may as well have a crack. Having watched the five nights of Ascot on TVN last year it looks like an amazing racecourse and event.

Yeah...I had an average time on the punt (not all that bad, though), but it was still a privelege to watch the event.

Your double isn't really that great value with the $10 outlay.
El segundo and MA are both 4+ now. You might have saved yourself a dollar but that's about it.

What rubbish. plain ignorance using one example going back a year to when Gold Edition was a 2yo, just about says it all really. But with that comment you've left yourself open if Gold Edition beats MA home...

Goldy's been in a league of her own for a while, so this should be a good test up against Miss andretti filly v mare on MA's turf.

Looks like Damien Oliver's got the ride on Goldy too so if he lets her go full bore, good luck running her down.

andretti - love this horse.......workmanlike, has the gears to negotiate any situation, home turf, pet distance, form of her life..............but the weights? untried carring such a load...i feel it wont affect her too much...but it wont have to be much to cause an upset against this company....

edition - im still a bit specticle...i dont know why....hasnt done much wrong...
will be hard to bat at the front if given room...against some better horses here tho - time to prove me wrong...

if any1 could enlighten me why any suggestion is at such tasty odds still i would appreciate it....ran a very impressive 2nd to andretti at the valley last start and this time is 7kg better off.......i thought it was home at the 100 and based on that last run i feel it is a genuine underated outside chance........

We are all very just very lucky that Gold Edition owners are Victorian else we wouldnt be seeing her here. $4 tasty odds, I wont touch her at $4 I think shes at least $3unders at the moment, $6.50-$7.00 would be right for her. You have to keep in mind that she is running against a whole different kettle of fish and negotiating the turn for her will be a massive issue.

Gold Edition and Dance Hero are gonna have one heck of a fight to lead and the pace could be just a bit to much to sustain, MA will just sit back of them get trailed into the race and reel them in like there donkeys at the fair.

Will be good.
