realistically, what can we hope for, and what can we expect from the next game? what will be happy with?

i'd personally be content to grab 1 win out of those 3, if we're 6-3 after 9 rounds we'll be in a fairly good position.

2 wins id be quite happy with. 7-2, probably still be sitting on top.

West Coast aside, has anybody watched either of these teams play over the past 3-4 weeks?

People keep talking about Geelong and Western like they're danger games, but both have been awful while going on their losing streaks.

Geelong have only won the two games they did because they were against the Kangaroos and Brisbane, both at Kardinia park.

Western have only lost 2 in a row, but it would have been 3 if they played anyone but Geelong 3 weeks ago.

Both teams will fail to match up on us well, and we will win both of those games.

We CAN beat West Coast, but I wouldn't be expecting it.

Agree with Vinnie, except we will not beat West Coast. Far superior midfield, the only way we can win is if we shut down Judd, try and limit Cox's influence in the ruck and around the ground, and err... get a higher score than them. We have to be in it at half-time I reckon.

Well apparently Cox is under an injury cloud for next week, while Seaby may come under video investigation.

We have our strengths, we should smash them at both ends of the ground - The midfield they will win and win convincingly, but our backline should own their forwards, and our forward line can get the better of their backline.

At this point we will struggle to beat WCE in WA. We have to target the next 2 if we lose. If we beat WCE we will be flag favourites for the first time since GF day 2003 and then we’ll have pressure of a different kind. Either way we have to beat Geelong and The Dogs to be anything serious this year.

Judd is a problem. Cox i believe fraser can contain him around the ground, whilst he may get flogged in the ruck hitouts.

Rhyce shaw wouldve been handy. Perhaps we'll try brodie holland. We've got a few defensive minded midfielders, just a matter of finding one that can keep up with Judd.

WCE and Geelong will be difficult (Geelong given the long trip back from WA) In addition, there is more pressure for Geelong to perform (No other distractions and spotlight will be on them in the coming weeks.)

We have to be on our game. But realistically, as long as we can win another 9-10 games (top 4) for the rest of the year, i don't care what happens in the next 3.

Judd is a problem but if we try too much to stop him we will be heavily compromised. Just put Brodie Holland on him and if Holland is having a good game himself without Judd totally dominating then so be it. We need to attack. Judd still had a good game vs. us last year when we beat them.
Heath Shaw actually would be a good option, but we will need him in defence.

I don't think we can afford to pace ourselves this week, especially against a quality outfit on their ground. The first half is crucial IMO. We must be around the mark at half time so we can deliver our killer blow in the third and fourth term.

Yeah, true, we will need four quarters, the key I think would be being in front at half time and firing from there. Even if it's 2 points at half time, we need a lauching pad against the Eagles. Though I am sure we won;t dominate as much as we have.

I just hope we can get close and maybe even get over the line.

This ain't a shot at The Majestic, as it is an attitude that many that have posted on the trip to Subiaco keep.

But if footballers are a microcosm of the general public and this is a commonly held attitude amongst the GP; would be it safe to say that a lot of footballers are happy to be competitive when travelling interstate rather than only happy if they get the win?

We talk about home ground advantages and the difficulties in travelling etc etc. It creates a defeatest mindset. I for one would not be happy if we went to Perth and played awful football and lost by 9 points (say like Carlton vs Richmond). I would not be happy if we played great and lost by 1 point. I wouldn't be down on the players but I would not be satisfied with a good effort.

If we have 22 players travel to Perth satisfied with being competitive then we have lost before the plane has landed. If we have a coaching staff that will accept a "good effort" rather than 4 points, then we have lost before we take off. We must accept absolutley nothing but the very best and 4 points.

If we should fail to get that.....then we must make take account of the positives and also implement adjustments that will bring us closer to the perfect game. If we are successful in our trip, then we must recognise what brought us success and emphasise these qualities and be sure that these are installed for every trip and game thereafter. But we must also recognise where further improvement could be gained.

For too long we have accepted " a good effort" at Collingwood. The players, coaching staff and fans must be bold and demand the ultimate from themselves and team mates and be satisfied with premiership cups....not finals football and honourable defeats.

I accept the trip to Subiaco is a tough task becasue WC are a good team. I do not accept a solid competetive performance will satisfy.

Good to see you have confidence in our side!!!!!!!! Look, main issue here is we cant go too defensive against the eagles. I agree with vinnie on this, but as someone has already said put Holland on Judd and leave it at that. We have been playing a very offensive style of football and we should stay focused on that game plan. I honetly think we can beat the eagles too, problem is we havent beaten them there in a very long time. BUT, i have a feeling this year will bring new things to Collingwood.
