Sydney, West Coast, Hawthorn, Sydney away then two games at Subi.
Must win two out of three if we are to play back to back finals.
What are our chances?

I agree. We need to grab two of those games.

The Sydney game will be a good one and if we snag it great, but really we need to win at home in the next 8 games and we play finals, simple.

The derby will be awesome if Sandi makes it back (he's trying) and we have Sandi/Griff up against Cox/NicNat

We'll beat the Hawks.

intensity is the key to winning from here. we look good on paper but players will need to know their roles and work as a team. thank god for silvagni.

Agree. We have enough personell to win most games. Its the level of intensity and effort that will determine how we go. I carry my hope on the theory that maybe the boys have been holding back all year to ensure we peak at the right time of the year. Doubt it, but we can only hope.

This weeks game against Sydney is the biggest of the year without a doubt.

We need to win 12 games to make the finals. Therefore, we need to win 4 out of 8 games.

Winning one of three would not be the end of the season.

We can still beat the Blues at Home, Roos away, and Dogs away.

There was some talk of this earlier in the year from the club, after we finished with a whimper last year. With the injuries we've had, I don't think we've had much of a choice but take this approach. The injury list is definitely shrinking at the right time of year.

I'm hoping that those areas will pick up with a more settled lineup. Must be hard to have that level of consistency with the personnel and position changes every week.

I think 10.5-11wins will get u in the finals this year.
But for us to get that we really need to put in the effort for 4qtrs every game.

I concur , however I would take it a step further and say next 2 games.

Sydney will give us a good idea of where we are. Assuming Mcphee and Barlow back this week it just leaves us Suban , Sandi and Mundy off our possible best line-up for the year. If we aren't near the mark then its gonna be difficult.

Eagles will be tough but it is a derby. If we lose these two games any more injuries to key players would probably mean curtains for the year. Still maybe other teams will have some bad luck along the way, although hoping for opposition players to get injured is probably not the decent thing to do.

Hawks at home is more likely than Dogs away.

On paper yes, but Barlow Suban and McPhee won't be at their best most likely, not to mention Hayden and Silvagni fresh back from injury. Hayden hasn't quite been at his best yet, SNOS has obviously been really good. Our season will depend on how quickly our returning players get back to their best.

It may have seemed that while a few rounds ago ... I did a ladder predictor and had sides making it with 10 wins. Now if I do a ladder predictor, I have us needing 12 wins to make it.

I see the Dogs and Saints as both having about 5 games where they would be favourites, and some other games where they still have a shot. That puts them around the 12 and 11.5 wins mark. Our fate might rest with the Eagles, and whether they can beat these sides at Etihad. Of course, we could beat them ourselves at Etihad, but I don't like the chances of that.

I don't think Essendon, North or Melbourne are in contention. I don't see them winning more than about 3 more games each.

Hopefully we won't have to rely on round 24 at all, I couldn't stand the stress.

I agree with your point that if we only win 1 of the next 3 all is not lost, but the next three games are the best chance the team has to set themselves up for finals and I hope they grab it.

I wouldn't say that winning only 1 (or even dare I say it 0) out of the next 3 is season over but I agree that they are important games just to gauge exactly what the team is capable of in the Finals. I really don't want to go into the final game against the Dogs needing to win, at Etihad...actually that's probably not a bad thing because we just know we won't win there :D

I'm starting to feel fairly optimistic about this weekend.

I definitely think we're got more chance than we do in the Roos and Dogs games. You know what you're going to get with Sydney, whereas there seems to be a bunch of Vic teams who lift their intensity above their average when they sniff a win against us in Melbourne.

Isn't that the truth? They need to listen Allan Jeans a bit.
Dermie and his rib and Dippers punctured lung show the lengths required :D
