Richmond - Done and dusted. Time to move on to next week. The first thing that comes to my mind is that yes we may be playing up there but we have a 7 day turn around to the Lions 5. That should not be underestimated. Hopefully if we get a good start they will have to spend a lot of energy catching up allowing us to finish them off.

Thoughts?

We've done well(ish) at the Gabba recently. We're a chance, no Judd will hurt in the midfield though. Black and Power generally star against us, but our mids were up and about last night, I could see us matching them.

Jamo to Fev, he's our best match up against him. Has the speed and the good spoiling technique on the lead. Thornton to Brown. Has been alright on him the last couple of times. Keuzer/Warnock v Clark/Luey will be a great battle. Four of the best young ruckmen in the league.
I hope we can come our firing again like we did last night. Our skills were top notch (for the most part), some of the best skills from the navy blues I've seen in 10 years. I really hope we can back it up again.

Jamo on Fev with Bower getting in his ear and winding him up.

Power is playing on a HFF now I think so he wouldnt be working through the middle.

Put AJ or Gibbs on Rich and he wont be getting a lot of the ball I think.

The 5 day turn around is going to stretch their fitness to the limits I think.

The extra 48 hours worth of recovery will be invaluable to the Carlton blokles, given the heat the game was played in last night. Not sure what the weather is going to be like in Brisbane tomorrow night, but you'd expect it would be warm. Could also affect the Brisbane players that have had sort of limited preperation.

Gabba also doesn't hold any fears for us, and i'd expect us to go up there and give it everything. Most pundits would expect Brisbane to win, so we can go up there and give it a real shake. Almost a win-win game for us.

Extra 2 days rest definitely will help us, even moreso being interstate. We can't get ahead of ourselves though, we played a side we were expected to win comfortably against. Brisbane are top 4 on paper and we'll need to be really switched on.

- Fevola: Whack Jamo on him.

- Brown: When he plays closer to goal imagine T-Bird will take him as he always done well in the past. I can see Bower playing on him if he's pushing far down the ground though.

- Staker: Bower should destroy him in the air and on the rebound.

- Waite at FF (Merrett), Carlos at CHF (Maguire). Give Henderson another run at 3rd tall, probably on Patfull.

- Joseph to tag Power. Power provides the Lions with a lot of link play through the corridor and is a lot more susceptable to a tag than Black.

- Walker to Black

Every other matchup should be one on one. Let's let the Lions worry about matching up against Gibbs, Murphy and co.

Can't comment havent seen the game properley, but from the little I know I would say no changes. Unless injury etc come into it, hod did Joey go? Maybe that would be the only change?

I'm not sure what's the deal with Aussie, but if he's up and running then I say put him in the side in place of Joe. Could use his spoiling skills.

They have very skillful but unaccountable small defenders in McGrath, Drummond and Adcock. I'd like to see us just go with the two talls in the forward line and a focus on defensive pressure with our small forwards stopping their run and delivery our of the backline, the smalls can also hopefully capitalise on how unaccountable they are and kick quite a few goals. Wouldn't even mind seeing Garlett brought in, he's done well against Brisbane before. Let Waite play on Brennan instead of forward.

Russell on Power, Joseph on Black, Thornton on Brown with help from Bower coming in from the side, Jamison on Fev with someone courageous and committed enough to cut off his leads for four quarters. Wiggins would be perfect but seeing as he won't be playing maybe Robinson, Walker or Simpson.

we ran thru the corridor well last night. the paddlepop bears won't allow it but we must try to be more direct. Still bombing the ball in too much and allowing a fast rebound from their def. Grave fears over this one. Hampson to smash Fev would be nice. Lucas to tear Rich a new one would be nice. Hendo to kick a bag
Armfield to return and add to CP's misery with a BOG match

True, and although that's a big ask, I reckon we can do it. Walker could nulify Sherman and still cause a bit of damage himself, Joseph can do the job on Black, or as close to it as anyone else in the league and if Gibbs goes head to head with Rich he'll tear him to pieces.

mhmm, would rather Army on Sherman but Walker will do if he can't play

keep Sherman, Black and Rich quiet and we should be good

BLACK is the key, forget the rest...

I think there will be a change, thats if Hadley is 100%...

Hadley is the man for Black, big, strong and good in close and knows Black's game inside out...

You forgot Daniel Rich needs to be taken out of the game also.We need to run Black and Powers buggered they like 31.We need to stop Fevola and Brown scoring too much. Jarred Brennan has to be watched at times also Mcgrath.Sherman,Drummond and Selwood,Adcock are ok also.

We should be able to win if we stop Brown and Fev and Black and Rich.

Black would murder Hadley i reckon.

Just a quick note for the week after (Bombres). Hille is on report for a late hit on Bartel... Saw the incident and I think he will get a couple of games..:D

I'd throw Drummond and McGrath into that mix also. We also need to prevent too much quality ball going inside their F50, which will obviously limit how much impact Fevola and Brown will have on the game. Noticed their forward line for tonights game is Brown & Fevola, with four smalls at their feet.

Would have to get a couple of weeks for sure on that charge on Bartel.

Give space for Yarran to have a quiet one.

McGrath is, IMO, a super mid-size defender and he will give YazzMagic a bit of a roughup.
Ratten needs to be infinitely conscious of this, and really try to give Yarran a run elsewhere, on a wing or off of a back flank very early to get his confidence up. Cannot end up goalless at any cost - needs to back up last week with the same forward pressure as well.

I think we'll be missing Waite, and it's a hard task as it is - but the emotion of the game will surely be intense, and could be enough to see us over the line, not to mention the 7 day break.

Midfield supremacy will be the key - Black cuts us up, and Rich (as we know) can change a game with a couple of kicks. Joseph and Carazzo to negate, bring in Lucas for a run in the midfield - Anderson out, perhaps Armfield in for Walker if he's fit.
